Caught the prospector to Kal, it was an hour late on the way up and was a lil late on the return. But overall I can't complain, it's nice not too drive, you can sit comfortably, watch movies, have a beer, wine or coffee and eat. Train is clean, some of the view on the way is pleasant. Would use... More

We were recently walking on the ape to cape track. We decided to catch the coach service from Margaret River to Augusta for the start of the trek and then catch the coach from Yallingup back to Margaret River when we finished the trek. The two drivers were excellent, knew our names when they pulled up and were very friendly.... More

Travelled to Kalgoorlie and back on this train....seats were comfortable but that's were it stops....might be a good idea to let people know what to do ..where to stand to board....total chaos...glad I live in W.A. Totally ashamed for our overseas visitors....worst train ride ever in all my trips.....40mns late arriving in Kalgoorie....20mns late arriving back in Perth....

Train was clean and tidy. The three Ladies who were staffed to take care of the passengers and seating arrangements were articulate, kind, caring and especially helpful and friendly. A request to move seats was prompt and accommodated. Excellent service and efficient way to travel from Perth to Bunbury then bus onto Busselton. Pleasant landscape view. Information that was relayed... More

We traveled the Prospector both ways and the Train Crew were always helpful and smiling. The in seat entertainment has many failures and is aged being installed in 2004. There was track work on the way to Kalgoorlie which delayed the arrival by 30 minutes. The food range was sufficient.

This is a pleasant trip as far as the scenery goes, and much nicer than being squeezed into the narrow seats of TransWA's buses. However there are a few irritants. Firstly, you're not allowed to get on and find your seat; instead you have to be ticked off a list at the door, as if boarding the Orient Express. Secondly,... More

Old, tired, smell, expensive, complicated and very long platforms to walk with no loos in sight. Not enjoyable at all.

TransWA runs passenger services around Western Australia (WA), both rail and coach services. If you like rail travel, try the Australind to Bunbury or the Prospector to Kalgoorlie. Coaches cover a very big area in addition. As most WA inhabitants will tell you, WA is "a million square" -- miles that is, about one-third the area of the whole of... More

Was a great train ride. Once we were shown how to use the ticket machine it was easy and the prices were good. The trains are clean.

I have been travelling on this train since it came into service. They use to serve a lovely airline type meal. Then they change that to the buffett service. A huge mistake. Returning back to Perth from Kalgoorlie we get to Merredin and they were already running out of food and snacks. I had a croissant. Totally gross. Heated up... More
