The Buddha Sanctuary at Cable Beach has received some loving TLC over the past few months with a new decking platform, shaded new entry area, landscaped gardens and a sacred rock pond on its way.

The space has also recently transitioned to be known as the Blue Body Buddha Sanctuary - linking it with a well-established meditation and wellness centre, the Blue Body Spiritual Centre based in Perth, WA. Despite the change of name, the Buddha Sanctuary remains closely connected with Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa and offers daily yoga classes for resort guests and locals.

Spending quiet time at the Buddha Sanctuary is a must for anyone visiting Broome. Established more than 10 years ago as a space for the local community, the Buddha Sanctuary is home to a 4 metre tall, crystal Buddha that harnesses the energy of Buddha Kuan Yin (goddess of Mercy and Compassion). The Yoga Pavilion, open decking area and ornamental garden offers visitors a special space for quiet reflection, meditation and relaxation.

The Buddha Sanctuary is open from 7am - 10am and 4pm - 7pm on most days.

Yoga classes are currently held Monday to Friday (6am & 7.30am) with an additional evening class at 5.15pm on Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays.

On my previous visits to Broome the most attractive part of staying at the Cable Beach Resort was walking through the grounds to the Buddha Sanctuary and joining the yoga class. The space was divine and the yoga teacher was very patient with all levels of yogis in the room. It was a superb part of my stay at Cable... More

This place was apparently donated by the Cable Beach Resort to make up for the development that was going on at the time. It was supposed to offer peace and tranquility for the locals and guests. We decided that, as it was close to where we were staying at Seashells, it might be worth a look. The first time we... More

Such a beautiful, tranquil space to meditate, contemplate life and do yoga. There's at least 2 yoga classes on a day on weekdays and in the dry season 3 a day. The schedule can be found on their Facebook page. The yoga classes vary in different techniques and with different teachers. Personally, I prefer Helen's classes doing elemental flow. It's... More

If you're in Broome, why miss a visit to the Buddha Sanctuary. It doesn't really matter if you're into Buddhism, or yoga - go there just to experience a peaceful sanctuary. The crystal Buddha may underwhelm you, depending on your expectations. But it's lovely.

Answer ... Buddha Sanctuary. What a beautiful, serene, calm, peaceful place. We went for a sticky nose and after walking around the tranquil premises, were impressed that such a sanctuary is available to one and all .. Religion is not a prerequisite. A place to sit quietly and ponder or do exercise or meditate. Whatever you choose, the surrounding feeling... More

Just a short visit is required not a lot to take in. The crystal Buddha is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, so we were told. If you are up early they conduct yoga classes around 7am in the large under cover meeting area in front of the Buddha. Small garden area it's very tranquil.

I attended a class with my mum (32yr and 60yr) as we were staying across the road. We are semi regular yoga attendees and this was the best class we had done in a while. Clear instruction, great structure to the class. Will try to squeeze in another class before we head home. Cannot recommend highly enough.
