An easy drive in a 4WD along good dirt roads will get you to this pristine location with breathtaking vistas and views and literally tens of thousands of birds. If you time your visit with the tide this is an awesome experience. This is also a spot that gives you a true appreciation of just how high the sea rises... More

Roebuck Bay is home for the Austral summer to an enormous number of migratory shorebirds. If you want to find out all about the birds and their incredible migratory flights then this is a great place to go. Knowledgable staff and more birds than you're likely to see anywhere else in Australia.

The Observatory is a good drive out of Broome, along a very rough dirt road - check the tide is IN before leaving, otherwise you'll go all the way out and won't see any birds

Did the bush birds tour with guide David Campbell. Headed out a few hours before sunset in a 4wheel drive the observatory provided. Luckily i was the only person booked in, apart from a friend of Davids so it was a very personal tour. Being on private property and a working cattle station you get to see areas of land... More

We took a leisurely drive out to the Broome Bird Observatory and it was fantastic! All the birds and the scenery, seriously the pics we took don’t do it justice at all, the panoramic vistas were amazing especially early in the morning. If you have the chance to do a guided tour, definitely do it, we had a great guide... More

Anyone even slightly interested in nature, especially birds, should visit this place. I would strongly recommend doing a couple of the guided tours which I did. Saw an amazing number of beautiful birds, some fairly rare and learnt a lot from the excellent, knowledgable wardens.

We were a bit late getting to the Observatory - the dirt road takes a bit longer to travel than expected. However, we were very impressed with this not for profit, none government organisation, which is devoted to research. This is not a flash resort. There is a variety of accommodation if you'd like to do a bit of serious... More

Nice drive from the main road into the pindan dirt road down crab creek to the water. Pictures do not show the true beauty of colours down here. You have to see them yourself. Not too many birds as wrong time of year. I have heard it is a sight to see when the birds are migrating.

We opted to be picked up from our accommodation as we haven't got a car with us in Broome. That allowed us to chat with the wardens on the way out and were lucky enough to also see a python that the warden rescued from the road. .There are several tours depending on the time of the year.We went on the... We had a rental car which had restrictions on both distance and off-road use and while the last half of the distance was not 'off road' as such, we didn't want the problem of having to clean it prior to returning it so this revue is simple to advise prospective travelers that the last half of the distance is unsealed.
