This is a really lovely whisky bar and if you drink it you must visit. We went upstairs where it was very quiet with pleasant views onto Russell street and had the most delicious tasting session. The woman who served us was knowledgeable and helpful and had a sense of decorum with one of our party who behaved badly. I... More

I highly recommend this bar for whisky lovers and non-whisky lovers alike (if they can't turn you, no-one can!). Arrived at about 6pm on a Friday night and was handed the menu, which contains over 100 Scotch, Irish and Japanese whiskies. The range was way too intimidating for my partner and I so we asked the bar staff to choose... More

I've wanted to do this for a while. Excellent for new, casual or long-time and knowledgeable whisky drinkers. The series of whiskies we tasted were from around the world and gave a good appreciation for the styles, history, and particular characteristics of what makes a good whisky actually good and what is truly important in whisky making. As a one-whisky-a-week... More

They have over 400 bottles of whiskey! And the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They even helped me secure a bottle of whiskey from one of their suppliers! Thanks again. Cheers!!

Excellent hidey hole behind a curtain, . An amazing array of fine whiskies from all over the world and especially from the home of whisky. Light food available to accompany and great atmosphere. A must do for any whisky aficionado.! :-)

Great atmosphere, great staff offering great advise. Huge selection of whiskey. Happy that they were open late on a Monday for my business trip with some colleagues. Will visit again.

The selection of single malts is greater than any whisky bar I have been to in Asia. Even in my home town of Glasgow I can't think of a bar with a better selection than here. This bar is also quirky with a great atmosphere and the mystique is helped by the hard to find location. A tip here is... More

Whisky & Alament is a great place where one can sample rare and interesting whiskies (guided by the knowledgeable staff). Low lights, small venue, excellent experience.

We stopped in here on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to get seats at the bar before the place filled up. If you like whisk(e)y, particularly scotch, Whisky & Alement would be hard to beat. They also make lovely craft cocktails, many involving said scotch. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable... Wonderful bar experience overall.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
