It is at the top end of Collins street and houses a Sofitel hotel, the ANZ Bank and a number of shops and good and not so good restaurants .It has been around for a while but still has distinctive architecture.

Collins Place is probably one of Melbourne's best known shopping and dining complexes. It is located in the heart of the CBD and offers an array of local and international fashion, some top quality giftware, a range of cafes and restaurants, entertainment options, etc. I had no intention of shopping but my friend and I just walked through the venue... This is an amazing center with fantastic boutique shops galore. Plenty of food to chose from, ranging from Mexican to sushi to pastries etc. Lots of seating and the food courts are cleaned constantly. Toilets are plentiful and also well maintained. Chocolates, pharmacy, newsagency, cafes, jewelry shops - what more does a girl need ? All of this hidden under... More

My grandfather helped work on the design and construction of this building which started in 1971 so I have a great personal connection with it. That aside it is a great refreshing building with lots of shops, eateries and modern bars. It has a great lively atmosphere. A nice city central place to hang out.

I host a business dinner with over 40 people attending. The waitstaff was prompt and courteous. The food was excellent and the food was served well prepared and at the correct temperature. We were in their private dining room with two wood burning fire places. I'll host another large dinner meeting there again.

The Collins Place is such a beautiful centre. Completed covered above and inside heating makes it great all year round. The shops are wonderful - fashion, hair salons, chemist, newsagency topped with the best eateries around. Such choice of food and coffees you won't want to leave

This is a well lit public space at the base of several office and hotel towers. It functions as an arcade would, seven days a week, from breakfast time to late evening when the final movie of the day ends. It's quite well designed to serve multiple purposes on about three levels, with stairs, escalators and lifts (elevators) connecting the... More

Located up the very classy Paris end of Collins Street, is a beautiful shopping district and cafe mecca called Collins Place. Home to the independent film theatre Kino Cinemas, Collins Place also has a great selection of bars, cafes and clothing stores to keep you entertained. Upstairs there are also medical facilities, a Physiological Centre, Cosmetic and Laser Clinic and... More

My hotel is just opposite this shopping centre at the back end, so I have been in and out of Collins Place dozens of times. It contains heaps of everything, restaurants, café shops, fashion shops, juice bar, cinema, pharmacy, etc. etc. I bought a few items in the fashion shops - they are small boutiques, but it is easier for... Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
