The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games. It also hosted the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes. Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986. The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 people, comprising 95,024 seats and 5000 standing room spaces. The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

The MCG is a great venue and attracts a variety of sporting events. My 2 issues with tonight's visit: there was a constant (and seemingly endless) queue for the female bathrooms and the seating areas not being terribly well labelled. The ground itself is fantastic. Seating close to the action is great. Friendly security on the way in was nice.... More

Being an avid cricket follower we enjoyed taking in the atmosphere of the MCG, it being a major venue in the Australian Summer of Cricket calendar that we have never visited before

We had a conference dinner at the MCG and it was a nice big venue with floor to ceiling glass to look out on to the grounds. Probably more exciting for those who follow cricket

Steeped in History and only place to watch sport, the MCG is the worlds largest open air stadium. There are a number of stadiums in Melbourne, but the MCG is only place to watch sport, especially when it's close to or at capacity of nearly 100,000 people. When there is no sport to watch, the MCG provide guided tours including... More

An excellent place to visit with a sports museum that's excellent. Great to watch a cricket or aussie rules match.

We attended the T20 cricket match on New Years Day and we have attended on several occasions before, it is a magnificent venue, world renowned. It is a pleasure just attending the ground.
