We visited this plant house while visiting the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. It is a fascinating replica of a sub-Antarctic Island with plants from the region. It has been chilled down to provide the right environment and there is an audio track of seabird calls...More

What a lovely break on hot day - open the door to the enclosed garden and a whoosh of cool air blows over you. Enjoyed looking at arctic plants and a nice break from a hot garden stroll.

A small collection of exotic plants which we will never see in real life otherwise. It's fascinating to see such resilient flora that can survive in extremely cold and harsh condition.

Great for a summers day or to make winter feel like summer. Fortunately we had our Swiss gear on so felt at home, except for the wind. Must not miss this experience.

if you're into your plants this place is pretty interesting. Little kids would enjoy the interactive experience.

This is at the botanic gardens and I think must be unique in Australia if not the world. Small - just one room but definitely worth seeing - the only way I'll ever see what it is like on Macquarie Island.

Yes this is inside the Botanical Gardens, turn right at the cafe and its a 3 minute walk. Be prepared though, its freezing inside.
