This is the only mine tour we did and we really enjoyed it. The woman who ran our tour was full of information and really great. There is a short movie at the start which really goes into detail about how opals are formed and how Coober Pedy became famous. You get to experience what homes are like today as... More

Underground old mine museum sounds just appealing and it's a must to see. had a really nice cool walk in the museum to get to know the history about opal mining and see how it's done back in the days. nice postcards sell in the museum. it's a nice free attraction.

Nice place to chill and have a look and a read about the place in the mine itself and it is free - you can take extended payable tours too.

Staff are rude and unwelcoming, must be why it's free. Completely ruined our time in cober pedy. Shame because the shop and history looked interesting.

We walked through the free museum and it is quite interesting with the science-based and historical information presented. A very well constructed and presented display.

First we watched a film and then toured the dormant mine. The information was well presented and comprehensive with local stories included. The visit to the underground home was good and the museum was interesting. Not all that was stated in brochure was offered to ushowever including OPAL CUTTING AND POLISHING DISPLAYS and ABORIGINAL INTERPRETIVE INFORMATION CENTRE This was disappointing.... More
