First we watched a film and then toured the dormant mine. The information was well presented and comprehensive with local stories included. The visit to the underground home was good and the museum was interesting. Not all that was stated in brochure was offered to ushowever including OPAL CUTTING AND POLISHING DISPLAYS and ABORIGINAL INTERPRETIVE INFORMATION CENTRE This was disappointing.... More

This was awesome value at $10 each! The guide was really informative and pleasant and answered all questions very well. It was cool to see the underground house. Very much worth a look around to get a feel of coober pedy and learn about what the area has to offer!

Our fun started in the car park when a huge willy-willy swept through it. This is a big interesting place with a mine, shop, accommodation and displays of opals, rocks, fossils and local indigenous art. Our inexpensive guided tour was great and the shop has the largest stock of opal gems and jewellery in Coober Pedy.

First, we watched a movie (20min), then we had an interesting tour. The guide gave us a lot of interesting facts. At the end, you are to visit the souvenir shop.

The lady who gave us our tour was very knowledgable, both about the history of Coober Pedy and the caves, she went into further detail about the locals as well as her own home. I thought it was a great way to learn about the town. The film needs updating but was engaging nonetheless. The free exhibition outside the tour... More
