A good way to see how the first miners dug to find opal veins. At the end of the visit a friendly man shows you how the miners used trucks to suck rubble up.

Many objects collected to give a good overview of life in Coober Pedy. Great experience for a very low cost. Gives you an understanding of life 'gouging' for Opal, not everyone's cup tea and very hard work!

Spent a few hours here learning about CP history and the life of a family living underground. Very informative, friendly owner who gave a demonstration of the trucks used to sieve the ground. Worth doing.

A great family experience. Being able to see the mining machine in operation was an added bonus. The displays were well explained and there was a great variety of displays depicting life in the early days of Coober Pedy. Thoroughly reccomended

A really good way to get a bit of history and understanding of the area. We spent about an hour looking around. There is a great selection of artifacts in the museum. Admission of $15 for adults seemed reasonable.

The whole family enjoyed the self guided mine tour. Staff very knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. Kids were particularly happy with the free noodling pit set up out the front. They came away with opal chips they were so proud of finding. Highly recommended.
