We have been visiting this lake for nearly 40 years and it still looks much the same - even though it is being slowly engulfed by the dune. It's not on our Top 10 list for Fraser but if you have time, certainly worth a look.

Absolute must-see on Fraser Island! The 30-minute hike to Lake Wabby is best done barefoot and is a bit strenuous (would not advise for those not physically fit). The sand dunes and Lake Wabby are good to do first thing in the morning prior to the massive crowds. Bring mosquito repellant, the hike portion through the jungle is filled with... More

You walk to Lake Wabby around 30 minutes and then you get to the sand dunes- looks interesting! The water is sweet water with some small fish which would do your "pedicure" is you keep still. Also you can watch some bigger fish in there.

Be at the lake early, late or for lunchtime for peace and quiet - all the coach loads and tagalongs have gone! If you're driving, park at the inland track car park and walk to the lookout before heading down to the lake. Look out for Brahminy Kite, cormorants, beeeaters, freshwater turtles, catfish and fish. If you stand still in... More

This place was packed with travelers. But the lake was enough for everyone to swim and splash around. The bonus -- enjoy fish therapy for free!

There are 2 ways of getting there, both take a bit of energy .... quite a bit. My recommendation would be to go via the lookout. In fact I would just recommend viewing the lake from the lookout then moving onto the beach or Lake McKenzie for a swim. If you have the energy then I would go at the... More

We loved coming here. my kids loved that they could roll down the sand dune and into the water. The water was warm and the hike in was fairly easy.

It is a 45 minutes walk to go there but it is worth it. Such a beautiful scenery - the sand dunes and the lake. Be careful and take shoes with you - the sand is incedibly HOT! We had a great swim there watching big fish - no fishing!
