We had a lovely morning at Riverway Lagoons a few days ago. The complex is about a half hour drive from Townsville city. Two HUGE swimming pools overlooking Ross River. Very picturesque location. Both pools are manned by lifeguards from dawn to dusk daily. There is an on site cafe and kiosk. Super clean facilities and it's all free to... More

There are several pools or lagoons as they prefer to call them which are all free to use, along with full time lifeguards to ensure everyone has a great time. Cafe available and a Gallery which has ongoing changing exhibitions. We could not believe that there was not more people in attendance.

What a wonderful thing the government has done for the local community... Provide free access to pool activities. Kids and adults can enjoy all year round.

Awesome little spot for families, with the public swimming pools, an area for exhibitions (we saw one about Da Vinci's machines and artworks, which included a hands-on kids creations table), BBQ spots for picnics, and a small kiosk where you can grab some food and drink.

Each time we visit Townsville, Riverway is a compulsory visit each morning and each late afternoon. Congratulations to the council for operating such a delightful, clean and available facility. Incredibly this place is free of charge to use. Well done to the vigilant staff too - great to know that you are there to keep us all safe. NT

We love going to Riverway. The pools are perfect for cooling off or exercising. There are drinks and food available to buy and lots of free bbqs to use.
