In an iconic building, a great outdoor cafe outside with the best coffee and friendly staff...the gallery has an excellent gift shop with different style of gifts, great to take back home, also books and gift cards. The exhibition changes according to the schedule but we have been here on three occasions and never disappoints.

The gallery itself is small and it is a bit confusing to find one's way around in the building. But the quality of the art work is good. But I enjoyed the gift shop most of all!

It's ok to visit but not much really to see as it is quite small but have a look you may find it interesting.

The gift shop had an amazing assortment of unique gifts - quite lovely - many locally made. There was also an interesting video exhibit as well. I would recommend a definite stop in this overlooked jewel.

Great examples of local based art including tropical themes, dot painting where the artists get full respect

A beautiful demonstration of Cairns' Cultural centre. My view took in the gorgeous artwork from local and national artists. My only regret is that I have yet to see a theatre production here... but time will correct that.

Small room of superb islander masks from the permanent collection of the gallery .....great gift shop too... More

The Gallery is a little gem in the city, positioned conveniently in Abbott Street in a beautifully restored 1936 building. The gallery is stylish, elegant and thoughtfully constructed - with a lift and automatic opening doors. The art displays are always professionally presented, and the varying exhibitions are constantly changing. I love this Gallery - well done Cairns.

I decided to get a group of friends and their kids together to go while it was free for the month of December. Kids had a great time, especially with the bug exhibit. The exhibits here are top notch (I drag my kids there often), and when it's not free, it's still cheap $5 adults and I think free for... More
