On my way to Mount Coot-Tha I accidentally ran into this impressive historic cemetery. The state of abandoned graves that partly date back to deaths in the late 19th century is an impressive reminder of momentariness. It may well be possible to spend half an afternoon when exploring the vast area. Every other tombstone tells interesting to touching stories. The... More

This cemetery is huge set in bushland 5k from the city- I like to just go for a walk and check out the odd headstone- there are organised tours and ghost tours at night - I like the walk .

Beautiful grounds and peaceful place to walk around. Calm in the city with some of the oldest grounds.

Interesting 2 hour walk around an amazing place! Lots of history, presented well. Wear good walking shoes (a few hills/steep grassy bits).. No ghosts to be seen on the night we went😐

Having travelled to Brisbane quite often we were running out of things to see around the city. We saw a pamphlet on the Toowong Cemetery so we decided to have a walk. We got an uber which didn't cost much from the city and asked to go to the highest point. We spent several hours walkin down the hill through... More

This cemetery is so old but well looked after, if you like that kind of thing you could easily spend the whole day here and its right next door to the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens.

Great historic adventure. Spooky yet incredible. On a bit of a slope but many graves to read and stories that seem To jump out of your head whilst there. Known to be haunted. I'm not sure about that but it was an experience for sure.

Don't waste your time going. If you are a historical buff you are wasting your time. Tombstone reading is at best difficult and often impossible. Limited shade and water.

We drove to the top of the hill to the big monuments and they are very interesting. There are plaques in place explaining who the people were and careers. They are mostly premiers, governors and historical folks from Brisbane. Huge cemetery with over 120,000 people. It is also a great help to read the website which goes into detail of... More

We attended a recent guided tour through Toowong Cemetery, conducted by the Friends of the Cemetery group. The tour stopped at the graves of many of Brisbane's historic figures, was well researched and conducted. We found it fascinating, and we highly recommend it
