The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery.

Visited the Picasso exhibition of 100 prints called the Vollard Suite. There were also some sculptures. It was a free exhibition And Is well worth a visit. Had lunch in the cafe which was tasty. I had a salad and a glass of wine.

A series of sketch drawings from the early 1930's on tour courtesy NGA. Great presentation in an open area of the gallery. Also a nice permanent collection with a large work by Rupert Bunny which caught my eye, and lens! 2110

Generally enjoyed this museum. I thought some of the big installations were thought provoking. Thoroughly enjoyed the Noel McKenna room - had a few chuckles! Didn't always get the connection between some modern pieces next to Early 20th century painters. Heyho that's art for you!...More

The art gallery has wonderful permanent and travelling exhibitions. Beautiful and quiet but not very good flow through the different sections.

With lots of familiar and regular items on display, the special and quirky temporary displays are also well worth the visit. A nice gift shop.

One of Brisbane's better cultural activities - a variety of different exhibitions on any visit and enough to pique your interest. Not necessarily the world's top masters but enough interesting themes and subjects to make it worthwhile.
