The same animal sanctuary is s pleasant and nicely kept place, animals seem happy especially the platypus. The whole place does look tired and needs a little facelift. But work is underway. Keepers friendly and cone out at 10 & 2.30 to feed the platypus then come to chat to the public. A nice afternoon out but don't cancel a... More

We were bored so decided on a walk and only minutes from the CBD we found this gem . We went on a hot sunny day and the walk was still not too hot with plenty of shade trees , views , wildlife, you may see snakes! And a fabulous dam to swim in with water activities everywhere and well... More

Take a bush walk close to the city nice display of how life was for the early settlers of Brisbane when they had to open up the land for European settlements

Yesterday my husband and I had the fun of babysitting our 5 and 6 year old grandchildren and we wanted to take them somewhere they have never been. We decided to go to Walkabout creek. They have a ranger and do two lectures one morning and one afternoon. It was on yesterday, Sunday but it would be worth phoning and... More

Walkabout creek is stunning. Beautiful nature walks to go on, lots to see, and a lovely swimming hole there to cool off in. We got married there and the wedding was absolutely stunning, the backdrop was amazing and could not recommend Walkabout creek enough for everything, from weddings, to nature walks, to picnics, swimming, and everything in between!

Great way to get close to the nature. We hike about 10 km along the lake and encountered two lace monitors!!! They were huge and amazing!!! Perfect place for a day hike and a picnic in a hot summer day. They also have a small cafe next to the visitor center.

This is a great place to visit although parking is severely limited. We parked well up the road at the bus stop park and ride and walked through the shortcut just up the road. The wildlife centre which you pay to visit had some great animals but I loved seeing the platypus. There's a cafe and the coffee was great.... More

I just had a great 10km walk around the reservoir. Hardly anyone on the track so it really does give you a chance to get back to nature. Note there are no ammenities on the trails. And Brisbane is humid. Take a camel pack (frozen the night. Emote) to ensure you can keep well hydrated on the walk. My only... More

We are so lucky to live within walking distance from Enoggera Reservoir. Surrounded by the bush, the reservior provides a cool retreat from the summer heat. The main entrance - known as "The Beach side" - is along a short track via Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre there are other less known and tracked entrances along the opposite side too. The... More
