The Deckchair Cinema is THE outdoor cinema on Darwin's Waterfront.

We are a fully indepedent movie theatre operated by the Darwin Film Society, established in 1954, to give Darwin audiences unseen movies on the big screen.

The Deckchair Cinema is located on Darwin's Waterfront (Jervois Road), and is open 7 nights a week from mid April to mid November. Gates open nightly at 6.30pm so you can enjoy a tropical sunset over Darwin Harbour before the 7.30pm screening.

Our program is a diverse range of Australian, popular, family, foreign and classic films. Come down early, enjoy a refreshing beverage from our fully licensed kiosk or feast your taste buds on a hot meal from one of our food vendors. No BYO alcohol.

We are easily accessible via a well-lit picturesque walkway from the City Esplanade and there is plenty of parking and bike racks available on site.

Every night is great at the Deckchair. Check the guide for a movie you like and be there by 6:30 pm for a lovely dinner and a glass of wine. There is a deck overlooking the harbour to eat in comfort, then take your glass to your chair to enjoy the film.

Looking for something different to do in the dry season, check out the Deckchair cinema. Fantastic food, bar and scenery while you watch a huge variety of films from Australia and the rest of the world. As Molly would say "Do yourself a favour".

A Northern Territory experience which should not be missed, get there early, have a meal and a drink and watch the sun set over Darwin Harbour. Watching a movie under the stars is very special, but apply mozzie repellent in copious quantities (supplied) and stay clear of the resident possums who are always looking for a feed.

Arrive before sunset and enjoy some yummy food and a cold beer on the amazing deck with sublime sunset views. Follow this with a quality cinematic experience from your reclined deckchair, with cheeky possums patrolling the aisles. I try to get there as often as possible.

This is my favourite thing to do in Darwin. It doesn't really matter whats showing, its just a great night out. Yummy food, a cool bevie (licenced), plenty of vibes and a sunset over the water before the flick. Then theres the stars and the wildlife watching the movie with you. Always an interesting selection of films too. Bliss.

What's better than heading down to deckchair to watch latest films, whilst enjoying the cool breeze sitting under the glorious Darwin night skies! Enjoy a tipple and scrummy dinner whilst watching sunset before the film! A must for all visitors to Darwin!

Dinner by the Hanuman Restaurant (one of our best), overlooking sunset at Lameroo Beach. Wonderful start to a tropical viewing of a great range of movies over the Dry Season. A must for visitors, and highly acclaimed by locals - this experience is one for all itineraries
