Winner of the 2012 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Award for Best New Tourism Development. Since 1928 the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has provided 24-hour emergency medical services to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia. Today, the RFDS provides the finest care to more than 275,000 Australians each year – that’s one person every two minutes. Visit the original Alice Springs working base operating since 1939 to learn more about this unique service. The theatre allows the visitor to watch in comfort the life size hologram of John Flynn telling the story of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, a truly amazing experience! The Royal Flying Doctor Service is a non profit organization, with 100% of all profits made from tours, purchases in the cafe and from our online store going straight to the replenishment of medical equipment.

There's so much to see, do and experience here, easily spend couple of hours here. Very informative and interactive video, guide talk and exhibition. Clean and tidy, onsite cafe and gift shop, parking nearby, accessible and recommended. Good price

We take a lot of granted including how easily we have access to health care. This was a great eye opening experience for my kids to realize just what a gift it is. Loved the hologram. Wish there was an airplane hanger nearby to check out as well

The guy who started this years ago was truly a visionary. This service provides medical services to folks out in the bush, it also provides transportation from these remote sites to facilities where the folks can be treated. They have an incredible cadre of staff who appear to be extremely dedicated. It's really inspiring to see how people care for... More

This facility provides an interesting overview of Australia's fantastic Royal Flying Doctor Service. My wife and I spent about an hour here, you could perhaps stay a little longer if you stopped for a drink in the cafe. There is a fairly small entry fee of $15 AUD per adult, however this entitles you to a 20 minute hologram presentation... More

What a wonderful time we had here. The place is only small but packed with so much information. There was a talk initially explaining some of their work and then onto the hologram presentation was brilliant.. A surprising fact that we were told is that the whole of Europe fits inside the map of Australia so they cover huge distances... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit to the RFDS. What they do for Australia is really important especially for those in the more remote areas. The information they provided and the hologram presentation were most enjoyable and the museum very interesting. Such sad stories about those who were cut off and suffered before this service was offered, you... More

This was absolutely amazing, to see how this helps so many Australians in their everyday life. Even if you don't live in Australia and might not need their assistance, it's still worth to contribute to this charity!
