The botanical gardens are a fantastic asset right next to Sydney Harbour and with such a wide variety of species creates a great impression of a fantastic city. It’s also free.

Strolling through Sydney always has it charms, but this walk is particularly lovely. It start from the iconic opera house, and goes to the lush gardens. It is not so far, but very enjoyable.

The opera house and then over to the Botanical Gardens is a beautiful area to walk. It provides wonderful views of the city and all of the nearby areas. The Botanical Gardens is a delight.

Looking at the opera house, looking at all the little tiles. Shaped as the nature around the opera house. Walking away, looking at the nature in the gardens. The beautiful trees, colourful flying birds. And.....the sound of peace in the city.

Inside the Botanic Garden there are many signs that points you to the Sydney Opera House. Do take notice in which way you came because on the return trip, it's not as easy to find the exact entrance you took to get into the garden.

We so enjoyed the Botanic Garden in Melbourne we visited this one in Sydney and once again we were not disappointed. Large expanses, special plantings, benches and sculptures made this a wonderful afternoon walk.

Best done, walking towards the Opera House for the views. Simply stunning. Beware the joggers though. Avoid lunchtime.

You should be able to do all that in the morning. There are tours of the opera house you might not have time for if you want to wander around the gardens longer - but they are all right in the same place, so if you have an... More

April in Sydney is Autumn : it's warm but not as hot as in the summer months. Very nice for walking about. Expect daytime temperatures around 20°C (68°F) cooling down at night to 15°C (58°F) .
