Beautiful 50m pool next to the ocean. Unlike your standard lap pool there are no swimming lanes and the bottom and edges of the pool is all natural - rocks covered with moss and occasionally small fishes swimming underneath. It is glorious when it is not too busy and the waves not hitting the pool too hard. I'm taking a... More

Wylies is a legendary sea pool off Coogee's north end. It is heavily populated by weather beaten locals but very welcoming. I passed a guy wearing a shirt that said "Wylies is my church " and heard another say if they ever closed the pool he'd move back to England ..... The place has a fairly legendary status in Sydney,... More

Take the walk the other way toward Maroubra beach and see the pool the locals use (at low tide). Read the plaque which explains the historical significance of the Baths.

Wow, I've lived in Sydney for years and just stumbled on this gem last week. I'm so stoked to have found it. Great for a nice, relaxed experience, slightly more protected than Coogee Beach. Kick back, relax, pack a picnic, a good book and just let the world go by. Love Wiley's

Fantastic place to swim and relax. Great if you don't like waves or want to do laps. Careful not to stand on the sea urchins as they hurt. Great coffee and rolls.

We went here one day after reading the reviews. It was a great place to sit and not have the waves slamming on us like on the beach in Coogee. You can swim laps or just cool off in the shallow waters. Watch out for the small sea urchins. They were all over.

Wylie's Baths is like stepping straight back into 1907 with a neck to knee swim suit. Except the coffee is so much better now and you won't be fined if you decide to change back into a Speedo one piece. Wylie's is one of Sydney’s most beautiful ocean tidal pools and one of the last. Bring some swimming goggles or... More

A natural sea-filled pool. The kiosk has great coffee and cheap snacks, the changing rooms have hot showers for 20c. This is a wonderful 50 m pool, with fish and sea urchins and waves. Best of all, come for the day and revel in the old school atmosphere. $4.50 entry.

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
