Harks back to a time before

We went for the French film festival and sat in the 'Walsh' cinema. Very cute with the old Hollywood curtain in front of the screen.

I love going to this theatre and do so regularly. Love the range of world movies and the decor etc. But..... be warned now it is licensed to buy alcohol and take it into the cinema it seems to have become a bit of an expensive effort. We bought a glass of wine to take into a movie, and were... More

I go to this cinema regularly as they have the latest films showing in a beautiful, retro styled complex. There are 6 screens so plenty of options and the staff are friendly and professional. They are fully licensed and have the best choc-tops in Sydney!

We went to the Mell-o-tones concert which was followed by a Tom and Jerry cartoon and a Doris Day movie "Love Me or Leave Me". Phillip Sametz, whose alter ego (or should that be the other way round) as breakfast program presenter on ABC FM did not prepare us for the show. The Mell-o-tones are a 'swing' band in the... More

I love going to the Orpheum! And we should all visit it a couple of times a year to give it our full support because if we don't we'll only be left with the huge cinema complexes with only block buster movies. The Orpheum shows some Hollywood movies if they have a theme with heart but you'll also be able... More

This cinema is a real surprise surrounded as it is by more modern Sydney. Shows the latest films, but in an olde worldy surrounding with quirky add ons like organ playing for certain shows! Coming from the UK and latterly Singapore, what surprised me is that you don't get allocated a seat, but it has never been packed when I... More

This is my local cinema that offers a good range of movies old and new. It even stage live shows. If you can avoid the organ playing, do. I usually stay outside and have a drink while it and the audience's ears are being bashed. I go because I can walk there from my place even though the seats can... More

Wonderful picture telling the true story of the king of Botswana, Seretse Khama superbly played by David Oyelowo who married a white woman Ruth Williams also superbly played by Rosamund Pike. This film starkly captures the issues of British colonialism in Africa in the 1940's causing institutionalized inequality between black and white, rule by division and economic imperialism. The way... More

More than just a cinema, apart from being a wonderful historic building showing the best movies, it also hosts special events like "live" performances of British theatre such as Helen Mirren in The Audience and guest appearances of legends like Red Dog. Great movies and something for all tastes.
