Great house in South Coogee allowed us time on this wonderful beach. Very relaxing and not busy or touristy. My son proposed to his girlfriend there!!!! Lovely walk from our house along the coastal walk to the beach. Must try one of the rock pools while you are there. Part of the ocean that is separated by a small wall.... More

If you're looking for a beach that's not quite as high profile but still just as nice, this is a great place to visit. Try out the Pavilion too for a drink (or food!), super cool place to visit.

It is easily accessible by train and bus. Just check the transport NSW website. The water was cold so we didn't swim. We just sat on the sand and chatted and relaxed. The seagulls were fun to watch. It was summer but it wasn't too crowded.

We travelled there by public transport, using Opal Cards and advice from the NSW Public Transport website, which gives detailed advice on how to use public transport to get from where you are in Sydney to where you wan to get to. The beach is attractive, with plenty of facilities, and the start (or end) of a great coastal walk... More

This is a lovely place to visit, we walked from Bondi to Coogee and enjoyed every minute of it. Coogee has a lovely shopping strip, great to have a browse around. Dolphin Point is a must visit, it has a memorial to all of the people from NSW who were killed in the Bali bombing including the loss of many... More

Lovely to have a stroll along on a nice summers night. Drop in and have a drink at the Coogee Surf Club on a Sunday afternoon, The best view and location for a quiet drink.

Our hotel is closed to Congee Beach. It's only a 20 minute walk. We went on a weekday. The beach is not so crowded. The vies of the ocean is fantastic. We also enjoyed the swimming hole among the rocks.

We wanted to stay away from Bondi and found Coogee a bit by accident. We stayed nearly 4 weeks and found it was a quiet, clean and safe place. Good transportation to CBD, Bondi etc. Beach was very scenic and not too crowded and a GREAT place for a run. Lots of places to eat and get groceries.

Spent a relaxing afternoon on the beach. Enjoyed the rock pool off to the side and walking along the sand.

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
