The ferry trip is, in itself, worth the visit. Manley is abusy and popular suburb in North Sydney. The resort is well laid out with plenty of choice when it comes to eating, drinking or shopping. The beach is fairly small but very clean and obviously very popular.

I enjoyed seeing the locals kayak-surfing. And it was a nice place to take a break in the shade despite the 100deg F heat. But it's not a must-do.

Just exceptional place- has a similar feel to South Beach Miami. As long as you avoid the souvenir shops it's worth visiting

A nice place to relax and walk. Lifesavers were more concentrated on their cellphones than on swimmers. Toilets were a bit scarce and dirty.

The walk from Queenscliff at the northern end of Manly Beach to the southern end is amazing. You can also walk around to Fairy Bower and Shelley Beach which is a beautiful location. This is a good place for children as the water is not as rough. Great also for family picnics. There are also lots of nice restaurants and... More

The ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly alone is worth the journey Sydney Harbour is so beautiful and I looked at it through the eyes of a tourist seeing it for the first time and it is truly stunning. Once in Manly there are many great eating places and attractions. This journey is well worth taking.

Very beautiful beach with great sand. I've been at lunchtime and you can see male office workers strolling along the beach in their suits. Think it has something to do with the topless sunbathers.... The main town of Manly is very close to the beach, and has several very nice pubs where you can have lunch or dinner. The place... More

A ferry ride to Manly Beach from Circular Quay is a pleasant experience. Manly Beach does not attract the large crowds like Bondi Beach and one can enjoy the quiet surroundings peacefully. Sea food in the sea facing restaurants is good.

Very fun atmosphere, just thirty minutes from central Sydney. Lots of cute shopping boutiques, a top aquarium and of course the beach itself ensure there is lots to see. I plan to go back for a second visit.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
