Sydney Fish Market (SFM) is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the world's second largest seafood market in terms of variety outside of Japan. A working fish market, SFM sources product both nationally and internationally and trades over 14,500 tonnes of seafood annually - with up to a hundred species traded every day.SFM employs approximately fifty-seven staff to organise the weekday wholesale auction, promote Sydney Fish Market as the centre of seafood excellence and operate the Sydney Seafood School. Since opening in 1989, Sydney Seafood School has played an important part in persuading Sydney residents to eat more fish. The School is considered to be one of Australia’s leading cooking schools. Over 13,000 people come to classes each year. Visit the SSS pages for more information or to book a class.Onsite, SFM hosts six seafood retailers, a bottle shop, fruit and veg market, bakery, sushi bar, restaurants, gift shop and deli.If you would like to organise a 'Behind The Scenes' tour of our wholesale auction, please call or email us during business hours (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday).

This was the first time I tried raw oysters with tobiko, and some light jap seasoning on the top. It was definitely mouth watering and I look forward to eating this again some day. The oysters are just so fresh!! The downside to this place...More

I love fish and if you do to you can’t miss this place. Expect a crowd and a lot of tourists. An amazing selection of fresh and cooked fish. The car park is a little grubby and the scavenger birds are disgusting. Expect to pay...More

A must go tourist spot if you visit Sydney. Nice market and lots of seafood. For me it just slightly overpriced...and too many tourists from China makes too much noise.

Probably the best place for simply cooked and prepared seafood in Sydney. Grilled baby octopus skewers and fried salt and pepper calamari – breakfast of champions! There is also a deli counter, a juice and smoothie bar, a coffee bar and an organic produce market,...More

The Sydney Fish Market is a great place to visit and see the super seafood. A great assortment, lobster were about $100 a kilogram. Might find oysters a bit less costly in some of the restaurants. Well worth a visit to see the seafood array

The oysters in Sydney Fish Market are really high recommended. I have tried twice during my Sydney trips. For those store, I will recommend Peter’s one which the sushi 🍣 and seafood as well as the oyster seem more tasty.

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Lots of seafood available - grilled options, sushi, sashimi etc. Plenty of outdoor seating available by the harbour, which is really beautiful on a sunny day. Highly recommend a visit if you love seafood

Try the Light Rail there is a stop right alongside the market. Otherwise a taxi from where you are would not be too expensive
