Sydney Fish Market (SFM) is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the world's second largest seafood market in terms of variety outside of Japan. A working fish market, SFM sources product both nationally and internationally and trades over 14,500 tonnes of seafood annually - with up to a hundred species traded every day.SFM employs approximately fifty-seven staff to organise the weekday wholesale auction, promote Sydney Fish Market as the centre of seafood excellence and operate the Sydney Seafood School. Since opening in 1989, Sydney Seafood School has played an important part in persuading Sydney residents to eat more fish. The School is considered to be one of Australia’s leading cooking schools. Over 13,000 people come to classes each year. Visit the SSS pages for more information or to book a class.Onsite, SFM hosts six seafood retailers, a bottle shop, fruit and veg market, bakery, sushi bar, restaurants, gift shop and deli.If you would like to organise a 'Behind The Scenes' tour of our wholesale auction, please call or email us during business hours (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday).

We randomly went to the Sydney Fish Markets on Sunday for some late lunch. It was a nice day so we sat outside by the water. Besides the seagulls stealing food, it's was a great spot to get some fresh seafood.

This place is amazing, such a great selection of fresh fish and cooked food as well. We tried food in almost every shop and then went back to one of them for lunch (don't know the name unfortunately ). Amazing experience and food was soooo good, highly recommended.

I arrived at 8am because of the comments I read here. There were plenty of seats in the morning. I would recommend bring your own fork and knife here as the plastic ones provided there are not enough to cut the lobster (although it sounds a bit crazy.) My lobster was delicious and cheap!

We went there and stop by at Peter's grill. We had 1 salt & pepper lobster, 1 cheese lobster, 3 skewer that's including prawn and scallop, 1 piece of grilled salmon and 1 trout and in total it cost at $ 178. The food is ready and you just need to queue and pick the one you would like to... More

Don't go on Sundays as it is super crowded, and long queue. Long lines on food shops, everyone is squeezing inside the Marketplace, and due to the crowed, you have no place to sit and eat conveniently plus the food is a bit overpriced!

Beautiful seafood of all kinds with many different vendors. Cooked shishkabobs , sushi, raw and cooked oysters and so much more to nibble as you look. This had the best deli we saw in town with good cheeses and all sorts of meats.

I love the food here but you need to choose carefully what to eat. Some of them are so so. I would recommend lobster and oyster among others. Chinese way of cooking was my favourite. A must visit at Sydney.

It is fantastic with an incredible variety of fish and seafood! Absolutely fresh and tasty ! Mobbed by tourists especially on a Sunday ! However having been there several times, I saw the price of oysters and seafood increase drastically especially at Peters who attracts the most people. They will sell you sushi (a little bit Americanized at a reduced... More

I can understand why Rick Stein got so excited here. We had soft shelled Crab, Octopus and a dozen Sydney Bay Oysters... More
