The gallery is close to the Woolloomooloo gate at the Royal Botanic Gardens. There is no clear signage to indicate whether or not there is an entry fee. Entrance to the gallery is actually free but there may be a fee for any special exhibitions...More

WOW, OMG is all words I used to talk about this Gallery. "It's free to get in and it's valuable when you walk out." - that's what I think about this place. A range of painting since last centuries are display and I feel amazed...More

Spent best part of a day here - such a range of collections, diverse yet carefully curated so presented in an accessible and understandable way. And free! (I didn't pay to see the Rembrandt display). I was surprised how much contemporary art was included too...More

Could spend a day here - and it's free!!! What a treasure. And in a beautiful building too. Had to be a highlight of our visit. Located right next to the Botanic Gardens, the two go together really well. Take a stroll through the gardens,...More

This rich and venerable institution must be the finest gallery in Australia. Even between block-busters it always has something to show. All the Australian 'greats' which can stand revisiting over and over again: McCubbin, Streeton, Boyd, Nolan, Drysdale. They all weave their magic. There will...More

Entrance is free, the building spacious and well planned. Australian and Aboriginal art well worth a visit on their own, but an enviable selection of international artists as well.

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with
energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise
buildings and after-work drink places, high-end
shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens
