We returned today 5/1/17 after spending the last 3 nights, 4 days on the boat Leo, hired from Luxury Afloat. We booked this boat back in January 2016, after having been on another boat from Luxury Afloat that we had no issues with whatsoever. Leo is a 8 birth houseboat, that is open plan, reasonably appointed, 2 separate bedrooms (one... More

Since moving to Queensland, don't see the river as often, previous trip had enjoyed it at the Blues Festival at Windsor and had a totally different feel to it. Other times have had a houseboat and seen so much variety and landscapes heading up the river. This time was one of my favourite aspects, crossing the river at Brooklyn is... More

Couldn't ask for a better weekend than one on the Hawkesbury River on a houseboat from Holidays Afloat & Ripples. From first contact the staff are amazingly friendly and ensure the entire booking process is as easy as possible. The staff on arrival are extremely helpful in explaining the entire boat to make sure you have the best and safest... More

My family have enjoyed multiple bookings with Holidays Afloat throughout 2016, and we are looking forward to several more in 2017. We choose to take the train to Hawkesbury River train station, and we are delighted when the friendly staff pick us up and drive us to Brooklyn. The conversation on the way is always a pleasure, and a great... More

There are some great walks in the National Parks in the region, but for the full experience hire a house boat from one of the several in Brooklyn and take a week or more to cruise the river with friends, for a quiet time mid week in off peak periods is best. Whichever you choose, take your fishing rods and... More

Beautiful waterway with unique car ferry crossing the river. There is a fish and chip cafe, a Seafood restaurant and another cafe selling light lunches and morning and afternoon teas.

I & a friend took a train to Hawkesbury River village, a beautiful small village on Hawkesbury River with a number of cafes, lots of fresh seafood. Wonderful Travellers Rest Hotel, great food and lovely setting. There are designated bush walks. Take a wander further on and you'll find a group of shops. Great view over the small marina and... This 3-hour journey on the Hawksbury River was a trip well worth the time and the realistic price charged. The commentary by the skipper was extensive and delivered in a manner that was educational as well as jovial at times. The various stops to deliver and pick up the mail gives you ample time to take phots and discuss the... More
