From land to see, Australia all over

Displays are brilliant from first settlers to living on the land: floods, drought and gold mining. Location is very scenic and building design unusual. Coffee shop and gift shop.

While my wife and daughter were viewing the Versailles exhibition I spent time in the free section of the Gallery. I limited myself to just a few galleries and was richly rewarded. Firstly I viewed the Oz paintings from World war 1 which were inspiring. They included propaganda posters by Norman Lindsay. Then I viewed Sidney Nolan's 'Ned Kelly' collection... More

Went my 14 yr old son and we both thoroughly enjoyed the Versailles exhibition. We only go to the NGA when there is an exhibition on as they always do a brilliant job. Last visit we felt like we were being watched the whole time and under suspicion! Since our last visit the gallery has entered the... More

We have now been to four exhibition to the National Gallery of Australia. We have always had an extremely pleasant experience with the staff, who are gracious and very helpful. The gallery itself is not big by international standards but put on an excellent display for the Versailles Exhibition. The guide we had was gorgeous Bernard is 91 years young. He gave us an excellent tour of the palace exhibits on show & explained the history of the Kings, the people in the paintings, & the Tapestries extremely well If... More
