Mežotne, one of the beautiful places in Latvia. Mežotne Palace is one of the brightest examples of classicism architecture in Latvia. Landscape is carefully planned and harmonious. It's expressive auxiliary buildings, the beautiful park, Lielupe River, and the picturesque landscape over the river in a unified ensemble. #SandraQu #ilovelatvia🇱🇻 #tourism #guide

The place gave us a feeling of being home. We were pampered, treated like part of a family, then we realized, we were in a family ran palace. The staff is friendly, efficient and 100% accommodating to each and every needs. Because we were there off season, we received a gormet service, we were able to select each meal at their normal menu price.
Miss them and we will go back each and every opportunity.

The palace itself is a hotel and allowed to see only 1st floor where is almost nothing to see.
But do not loose the chance to have a short walk to hillfort across the river. There used to be a fort on 9 to 13 centuries but now you may have beatiful view to the river and Mezotne castle.

The palace is so well kept and decorated in a way that the light in each room makes everything so magical. Would love to host a party in there. The surroundings are so quiet and peaceful. Makes you wish you could stay there forever.

Mezotne Palace (Mezotne Pils in latvian) is a very special place. It was built in 1797-1802 and is a truly beautiful example of Classicism architecture. It was then restored to perfection and is now a splendid hotel surrounded by a green park by the river. The room was very spacious and nice. We had a very good diner at the restaurant and even a special "wine tasting in torch light" that was abolutely memorable. Nothing flashy there, but definitely discreet charm and sophistication. If you are a couple, try the "Romantic offer" on the hotel website, it's certainly worth it.

We spent one night here and it was a marvelous experience. There was a wedding going on in the front area and we watched from a small balcony and sipped our wine and toasted the happy couple.

Our room faced the opposite side, facing fountains and greenery. The halls and corridors of this mansion are amazing, as is the rotunda room beautifully decorated.

Dinner that evening was spectacular. I had a Caesar Chicken Salad was the best I have ever tasted. The accompanying chicken dinner was also delicious. In fact, I informed the waiter of my delight and the chef, himself, came out to chat with us.

Breakfast was included the next morning and it was served in the same elegant dining room.

If you enjoy old palaces and manor homes, this stay will not disappoint. You can get reservations and more information on manor stays in Latvia from any Information Center.

The palace is in an hour driving from Riga, part of the road is unpaved but not bad.
The place offers an hotel, which is highli recommended necause of a rare possibility to stay in a really historical building, actual palace.
The restaurant is good, but expensive (relatively to Latvia's regular prices) and offers a very short menu.
A visitor can take a round inside the palace, costs 2.8 Euro, probably included for the hotel guests.,

The restoration is tremendous. Trompe l'oeil ceilings were breath taking. Museum rooms are sparsely furnished. The parkland setting and wider landscape are a pure celebration of idyllic scenery. It's a great second stop in your day but on its own its not worth a destination unless you are staying in their hotel.
