Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The place is beautiful, so many people and if you are not trained and have hiking shoes do not face the descent that lasts at least 40 minutes and double to climb up. The view from above is spectacular in any case. The Chinese have begun construction of a mega elevator that takes you directly to the beach: how to ruin a magical place...

Visiting Kelingking Beach was an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking T-Rex-shaped cliff and turquoise waters create a surreal view. The hike down is steep and challenging, but the reward is a secluded, pristine beach with dramatic waves. Watching the sunset from the viewpoint was magical. It’s a must-visit spot in Nusa Penida, perfect for adventure seekers and nature lovers!

The road to Kelingking Beach is notoriously difficult, especially for those not experienced with riding motorbikes. The winding, narrow paths, combined with poor road conditions, like potholes and sharp, unexpected turns, make it challenging to navigate. Many tourists rent motorbikes to get there, but the lack of experience with such tricky terrain can lead to accidents. It’s definitely important to be cautious and maybe even consider hiring a local driver if you’re not comfortable with those kinds of roads.

After parking, paying the small fee, and you can leave your motorbike safely, you walk through the village to the iconic viewpoint. The climb down the hill to the beach starts there.

There are monkeys along the village and view point. Monkeys are indeed quick and opportunistic! They might look harmless, but their behavior can change quickly when they sense food or anything resembling it. Keeping food securely packed and being mindful of your belongings is important, as they won’t hesitate to snatch anything they find interesting.

The descent to Kelingking Beach is steep and physically demanding, so it’s important to be prepared. The climb down involves navigating rocky and narrow paths, and while going down may seem easier, the real challenge is the climb back up. It requires good physical fitness and stamina, especially under the heat. Bringing plenty of water is essential to stay hydrated, and having some prior physical training will definitely help with endurance.

This beach is gorgeous and if you’re in the area I highly recommend going at the start of the day because there are massive crowds otherwise. The trek down to the beach is for the brave and fit. Once you are past the trinket shops, there is no paved path. You literally hike down a very steep, narrow mountainside with poorly maintained handrails made of bamboo or trees. I also wouldn’t swim here and have no idea why any would recommend snorkeling. Maybe those who do went during a different time of year but be aware the surf and current is rough and not even the locals suggest swimming here. Absolutely stunning beach though please just be aware before you go.

Wow! Some level of fitness required. The climb down and up is quite challenging but well worth it. Highly recommend doing this early morning and not in the afternoon as it gets very hot with minimal shade on the climb. Do not wear flip flops, we chose to climb bare foot making it much easier for foot placement and less slippery.
Stay hydrated and enjoy!! 😁

Although I rate it five stars, I have mixed feelings when it comes to making the review. There are many people on the trail down to the beach.. it is not an easy path and you have to be a very agile person and go well equipped to do it without suffering. The problem is that there are a lot of people going down with flip-flops and without the physical capacity it requires, since the trail is practically dug into the rock and in some sections is literally vertical. If you get to the sand, it's a dangerous, hungover beach and nobody should take it as a joke. The week before our visit. A tourist drowned.

Make this your first stop when visiting Nusa Penida, and try to arrive early in the day. As the day goes on, the beach gets crowded, and the walk down the steep stairs from the cliff to the beach can take much longer. This is one of the most stunning locations in the world and a must-see for anyone visiting Bali. Only attempt the climb down if you're prepared for the challenging hike back up, as the ascent is steep and requires moderate trekking. Beyond a certain point, the stairs turn into uneven stones, making the climb even more difficult.

Kelingking Beach and its surrounding cliffs are no short of spectacular, especially in terms natural beauty and photo options. If you’re young and fit I’m sure you may enjoy the challenging trail/steps down to the sand. In our case we decided we will only enjoys the views from above, which were awesome enough. At Kelingking Beach we arrived at 4pm while it was still sunny and remained till after sunset. Our driver, Putra was very helpful and talented in his photography skills. We stayed three nights on the island which was perfect for us however I would recommend everyone to stay at least one night. The day trip tour from Bali is very rushed and safety is compromised.

This was truly an amazing experience! One of the most beautiful scenes we have seen in Bali! Gorgeous views and a stunning beach. There are lots of people, but the beach is huge so there’s plenty of room for pics alone. Just a PSA, the hike down is HARD!! Not sure if someone has mentioned this in reviews but we heavily underestimated how steep it is. Be prepared for a true climb during the last half to the beach. The way up is better but this really isn’t for kids or older adults. Get ready for a true workout! If you stay at the top, there are ample opportunities for photo ops but you can also go a little bit further down and take some good solo shots without all the crowd. I highly recommend this for anyone coming to Bali!

I visited Nusa Penida for a day trip, and the natural beauty of the island was absolutely breathtaking. Kelingking Beach and Diamond Beach were stunning, with incredible views and crystal-clear water. However, the island was extremely crowded, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. The biggest downside was the road conditions—getting from one place to another took a long time due to the rough and poorly maintained roads. Nusa Penida is a beautiful destination, but improving transportation infrastructure would make the experience much better for visitors.
