Beautiful circular trail that can be done without snowshoes if there was little or no fresh snow. Our daughter was in the backpack most of the time. There were two fire pits and a small hut along the way to warm up. The descent was tricky in some places and very icy/slippery.

Trekking invernale di poco più di 5 km. Il sentiero inizia in prossimità del parcheggio di Saarua a Ruka valley, località raggiungibile anche con l'ovovia da Ruka (l'ovovia ha una fermata intermedia sulla vetta della collina, bello per il panorama, ma non è possibile passeggiare). Se siete in auto credo che sia meglio arrivare a Ruka valley per la possibilità di parcheggio, a Ruka, anche se può essere bello fare l'ovovia, il parcheggio mi è sembrato con meno disponibilità. Il sentiero è ben segnalato e all'inizio c'è un pannello esplicativo. Il percorso non ha un grosso dislivello, ma ci sono comunque c qualche salita/discesa che seppure brevi con la neve e ghiaccio necessitano di attenzione. Escludendo la parte iniziale il percorso è circolare. Se avete le ciaspole meglio, si può fare anche con dei buoni scarponcini, quando il sentiero è ben battuto. Non dimenticare di portare con se viveri perchè non ci sono punti di ristoro, ma solo edifici in legno dove potersi riparare oppure si trova tavoli e barbecue dove poter accendere il fuoco ed arrostire qualcosa. Il paesaggio è spettacolare: abeti coperti di neve ghiacciata che sembrano uscire da un cartone animato, in alcuni la neve sui rami più bassi forma delle specie di igloo, dove vanno a ripararsi gli animali. Gli alberi che sembrano ricoperti di panna e il paesaggio intorno molo gratificante rendono questa passeggiata da non perdere se siete zona.
