Taking the large tour (5-6 hours tour) for 30 dollars/person with Treehuggers, we Highly recommend this tour. There is also the standard tour (4 hours) with or without jump for 25 dollars. Looking at other comments now, I realized passing with Treehuggers increases the prices sometimes by almost double. Rigo, our guide, is really talkative and makes people at ease... More

Thank you for your review. A couple of points need clarification. Our tour whether booked through our agency Treehuggers or direct via our website is the same price. There is no variance and none of the other operators offers the complete package that we do, including 6h tour, one way transportation from Somoto bus terminal to the trailhead, river shoes,... Drove to Somoto from Esteli (approx 1.5 hours). After a thorough briefing, walked 2 km to the headwaters of the Rio Coco and started our trek through the amazing canyon. Walking and swimming through shallow water and deep pools - everyone was thrilled that they ventured on the trip. The more adventurous participants did cliff diving up to 18 meters...... More

Just to check back in after having done the Somoto Canyon tour with my family. We all had an amazing time!! The operators of Somoto Canyon Tours were absolutely wonderful! It's a family owned operation and we felt like part of the family welcomed into their home. We stayed the night Friday night and did the tour Saturday morning. I... More

I wasn't entirely convinced that I should attempt this canyon trek because I thought that it might be too difficult, too strenuous, or that the water might be too cold for me. I am writing this review in case you may be wondering the same thing!! First of all, the full canyon tour was not too difficult for me. I... More

Thanks for your detailed review of your tour which you obviously enjoyed very much. A couple of points are worth talking about for the benefit of all who read your reviews. Firstly, we do not recommend using any form of sandals, even Tevas on the canyon tours. A closed toe and heel are more desirable when you are walking over... More

I called Somoto Canyon Tours on Wednesday and was told to make a reservation through the website which I did. My reservation was promptly followed up by an email confirming time and place that we would be meeting with our guide. We drove up to Somoto and met up with our guide, Franklin, at the gas station right at the... More

Had so much fun on this tour through the stunning canyon. Would definitely recommend the 6 hour tour if you are into climbing, swimming, and jumping from rocks into the lovely, cool water below. The groups tend to stay small which allows an intimate opportunity to experience nature and the staff (mostly speaking Spanish only) were very friendly and good... More

This hostel was perfect. Loved the hospitality and what they stand for. Henry has built this company from the ground up with the help of his family and Brian. The actual tour itself was amazing. Our guide was great. Food was good and we even got to witness a birthday while we were there. Definitely recommend this place!

I purchased the tour from TreeHuggers in Esteli which includes lunch. The main tour group is Namancambre Tours. Henry Soriano has 15 guides who help with rock climbing, inner tubes, horse riding, a moderate walking activity for three hours, boat travel, and a longer tour by the Honduras border. I highly recommend a guide because he works as part of... More

Thanks for your review. You mentioned a company called Namancambre as the main tour group. This is not correct. That company does not work from the canyon and is not the main tour organisation at the canyon--we are! All our guides are officially trained, licensed and authorised by the government. We cannot say the same for other operators. One of... More

This is what a trip to Nicargua is all about! Stunning natural landscapes, adventure and lovely people! Trekking, swimming and scrambling rough Somoto Canyon has been a highlight of my trip. The views are fantastic, the water is cool and the jumps are fun! (Although not compulsorary). Local man Henry has created a business which is supporting more than 70... More
