Excellent ruins. Huge ancient buildings. Tons of tourists over the December Holiday period, and lots of locals selling goods. Plenty of trees to provide shade. I recommend doing one of the jungle hikes/treks that are offered here, as well. Saw howler monkeys and the guides...More

This very famous Maya site is really one of the best. The buildings are in excellent condition. Although it is (unfortunately) no longer possible to climb Temple of the Inscriptions, let alone go in Pacal's famous tomb, one can still climb all 5 temples of...More

This is a must see historical site, situated in the jungle just off Palenque. Try to be early and invest in a guide. Taxi-drivers often know someone who is worth your while. Ours did. This way you‘ll get to know things, that you will otherwise...More

Hired a guide to take us on a jungle walk, where we saw lots of howler monkeys that we're howling so much it sounded like we were in Jurassic Park. Cool experience!

We visited mainly to go to the Palenque ruins however there is a “forgotten ruin” off the beaten track. On the way back from the ruins we walked down the hill until we came to a corner with a sign post with a howling monkey...More

This amazing Mayan ruin sits right in the jungle. The 70 peso entry fee gives you access to the site which is quite extensive. You are able to walk on and through many of the ruins. The view from the top of some is quite...More

We could have spent days exploring this extraordinary Mayan City State in its magnificent jungle setting: The Temple of the Inscriptions, the tomb and story of the Red Queen, the palace and it's sauna, the temple complex .... Don't miss the small museum containing many...More

No, it's not. The tickets are actually bands that you tie on your wrist and they scan the bar code on the band. A bar code cannot be read twice by the scanner.
