Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely cycle route along a tarmaced forest path that is mostly flat. Very peaceful & free to use if you have your own bikes. If not you can hire a whole range of bikes. Also nice for a dog walk but dogs have to be kept on leads and as they are random benches along the route it’s very pleasant.

Nice reasonably flat cycling path through the fields and forrest. Well maintained and several places to rest and have a picknick.

Hired our bikes at Chalus. Biked along the Voie Vert. Truly lovely cycle way with wonderful views and many a friendly 'bonjour' along the way. Easy to get lost in dreamy reveries. A step back to simpler times. Did not even mind when I dismounted from my too high saddle and fell into a bed of nettles. Oh the shame.

Had a family cycle ride which was perfect for all. Lots to see along the way. Pretty flat, so good for children.

A beautiful disused railway line that passes through picturesque countryside and picture book villages. Biking is easy and the distance to and fro good for a full day of adventure. Signs along the way provide an interesting insight into life when the railway was still working.

I found this by chance but it is also signposted (15 minutes) walk from Chalus Tourist Office. You can hire a range of bikes (tri-cycle recumbants, normal bikes, electric bike, quattro-cycles and roller skates and tandem) and the attraction is based in the old Chalus Station. Bikes can be hired for either 2 or 4 hours. Of course if you have your own bikes/skates then the path is free to use.

From there you can cycle along the disused old railway line which has been covered in smooth tarmac. Along the whole length (from memory 12km) there are about 5 road crossing, only one of these is slightly busy, the others are very minor but take care with young children because there are no gates stopping them at these junctions.

As it an old-railway track, the riding is easy, gradients are almost flat.

For bikes, I recommend trying the tricycle recumbant (quite fast), electric bike for people who want to make no effort. The quattrocycle (4 wheeled bike) is heavy so be warned you need to put effort it if you're using this one.

The whole length of the track and return can be done in 2 hours but that is a very energtic pace. We did it one day as a challenge. 2 hours hire is perfectly OK for a more liesurely amble as far as you want to go and there is the occasional spot available for a picnic.

NB re Opening Hours: Closed as per normal French conditions between 12.30 and 2.30 even if they say on the phone they are open all day.
