TAHBILK CELLAR DOOR & WINE TASTING: The Cellar Door tasting is a MUST...

TAHBILK CELLAR DOOR & WINE TASTING: The Cellar Door tasting is a MUST if visiting the winery. Held in the original winery you will be well looked after by our lovely staff as you try a range of different Tahbilk wines on offer. An amazing experience which takes you back in time, unchanged since 1860. UNDERGROUND CELLARS: In Cellar Door, follow the stairs down into the original underground cellars built in 1862. Take a moment to breath in the sights and smells of the red wine cellar before moving to what we call the new cellar which was built by James Escott Purbrick (third cousin to Reginald Purbrick) in 1875 in only 6 weeks. ECO TRAILS: The complex web of billabongs became 8kms of backwaters and creeks. These deep wetlands are the site now of the Tahbilk Eco Trails. Start your walk by heading across the historic Long Bridge. The Long Bridge was built from timber hewn on the Estate to replace a ford on the site soon after the Goulburn Weir was completed in 1889. Following the floods of 1954, the bridge was extensively repaired, reducing from double to single lane. In 1996 it was completely rebuilt, again with timber cut and milled on the property. Visitors can stroll along a range of walking paths and boardwalks along a 4km circuit. ECO CRUISE: Gently glide along the Tahbilk billabongs and enjoy a 30 minute cruise in the undercover comfort of our eco friendly electric powered boats. Group Bookings only - subject to availability - More than 15 people is $10 per person - accompanied children under 18 are free Less than 15 people is $150 (fixed charge)

We visited Tahbilk Winery as part of the Goulburn River Wineries cruise and were really impressed not only with the wines we tasted but with the very old buildings housing the winery. A really interesting visit. Perhaps the only drawback was the fairly steep hike up the river bank from our cruise ship. Strangely enough the walk back to the... More

This is a winery that has seen five generations of the one family and it is a very good winery to visit. Loads of history, plenty of old wines, great variety to taste and buy. A variety that takes our fancy is the Marsanne, a white that's very interesting and has been part of the winery for a very long... More

Thank you for writing a great review. Marsanne is one of our favourite varieties and a must try at our Cellar Door! Tahbilk has the largest and oldest plantings of Marsanne vines in the world, dating back to 1927. We currently have on tasting the 2016 vintage Marsanne, 2010 Museum Release Marsanne, 1927 Vines Marsanne, Sparkling Marsanne and a sweet... More

We had lunch with friends at the cafe over the Christmas period. Service was good, food was delicious, location on the balcony next to the river was very pretty and wine was enjoyable. I had the grilled haloumi vegetarian option and the dish had many different flavours and was very well presented. Thoroughly recommended!

This is the first winery i ever visited as a child, and every other winery I have visited since has disappointed me. The history, the old buildings, but most of all the smell of the ancient cellar below the tasting area are impossible to replicate. I went there to show my children.

Thank you for your review. You must come back for vintage when the wine is pumped into the open oak vats at the end of Tahbilk Cellar Door, the smell really is outstanding! I hope your children enjoyed their visit too, and maybe one day you'll bring the grandchildren! More

If you ever in the area you MUST visit Tahbilk - one of the most historic wineries you will see. Not only are they renown for their wines but also for their underground cellar; easy access and you walk thru the cellars that date back to 1860. Their is also old machinery and homes from back then as the winery... More

Thank you for the enthusiastic review. What can I say but we agree. Small point of clarification. The winery is located in the locality of Tabilk, the township of Tahbilk being nearby, but not where Tahbilk Estate is located. More

Another enjoyable day spent at Tahbilk Winery. I think I am turning into a wine snob, as Tahbilk deliveries everything you require from the cellar door experience. Knowledgeable staff (thanks Judy, Marie and Rachel), that are also friendly, welcoming to all, and professional. A superb range of wines to expand your palate, at varying price points. From the midweek quaffer... More

Superb place to visit and learn a little about the winery history. Very Well kept heritage location. We were able to see the wine cellar amd experienced wine tasting. Vineyards are just around the corner to experience that too. Probably the best winery to visit if you are in Victoria. Tahbilk cafe is a must visit place after a walk... More

We visited the cellar door at Tabilk after having lunch at the Cafe. The original cellars are open to look around and there's a display of information regarding the wineries past also. There was no charge for the tasting and the staff were happy to open anything for you to sample (excluding a couple of $300 ish bottles.) The wines... More

Situated just out of Nagambie, is Tahbilk winery.. Steeped in history it is lovely place to ramble.. Check out the pleasing reds and whites, but be warned have a designated driver. Right on the river and with a large cafe with decking, you can't go wrong.. Check to see if they have special events on ie: Head of The Goulburn,... More

Family owned; long history with readable literature available; wide variety of wines; spectacular setting; access to the old barrel cellars; pleasant informative staff; specials and bargains onsite; good value pricing and above all else; simply great wines. Rarely do you get much of the above in one place, - here you get all that and more. Don't hesitate, this is... More
