Stand with your back to the door and marvel at the Jubé - that's what the guide called it - a mysterious and astonishing addition to the nave that separates you initially from the main body of the church - you won't see many like this no matter how far you travel. The cloisters are delightful - the frescoes captivating.

The abbey was recommended to us by the manager of the airbnb cottage we rented in Arignano. The day was perfect, and we had a very pleasant short drive through the rolling hills of Piedmont. The abbey is a few km from Albugnano (see separate review for the restaurant there). It is in a beautiful setting, and there were only... More

A delight. Takes you to another time. Or better yet, quietly brings the adoration of another time to you now. A nearby small cafe served delightful fresh peaches, still warm from the sun, with vanilla gelato. Off the beaten path.

- This church dates back to 1095 and immersed in the lush of greenery around and we took a nice car drive to reach this magnificent historical place. - Near this church we also visited the PARCO DELLE RIMEMBRANZE located in Albugnano (AT) from where one can explore the vineyards of Asti zone which is also famous for wine FREISA.... Everything of this visit is amazing, even when you are driving there you'll be surprised by the enchanting panoramas hidden around every corner. What you will find visiting the Abbazia is beauty and quietness. This ancient building is surrounded by a breath-taking nature (woods and hills). Take some time to walk along the trails all around the abbazia: it's a... More

Lovely old abbey that dates to the 13th century. Interesting historical and architectural information at the site.

Could spend hours in there. Very, very old roman style abbey and very magical. The artwork alone is marvelous. Surviving many hundreds of years and the architecture is just fascinating.

A great place with surprising details of roman/gothic architecture. Has been renovated not too long ago to restore some of the old wall paintings. If you happen to get offered a guide through the abbey, I highly recommend to take it. We had a female guide and she was extremely knowledgeable, very passionate to share all the "secrets" of this... A magic location, on Monferrato hills, a site rich in history and - above all - a high artwork, for its architecture, sculpture and frescoes.
