Gladstone is the only complete Victorian pottery factory from the days when coal burning ovens made the world's finest bone china. Traditional skills, original workshops, and the cobbled yard and huge bottle ovens transport visitors back in time. Visit the gift shop and tea room and have a go at throwing a pot, making a bone china flower or decorating pottery. Please allow two to three hours for your visit. The shop and cafe, which serves a selction of drinks and light lunches, are open to non-museum visitors.

We visited for the first time and really enjoyed our day. The staff are so jolly; from the receptionists, the potter, the craft lady, the cafe ladies and the tile expert! The food was tasty, speedy and very reasonably priced. The whole museum is well looked after and we loved the doctor's house with the film of patients and all... More

Having visited this museum on a number of occasions over the last few years, I have to admit to being rather disappointed by our most resent visit. I am a great lover of local history and take pride in the potteries industry but feel that other pottery museums in the area, whilst not as well equipped and large, are more... More

We were really sorry to hear that your visit didn't meet our usual standards. Half Term was the busiest we've had for over twenty years and last Thursday was a challenging day. We have a very small team and were also dealing with Storm Doris which caused damage on site. This, however, does not excuse the fact that our customer... More

I visited here for the first time this week with my 7 year old. Prices were very reasonable (compared to some places) and it was really easy to find! So much to see and so much history that we weren't even aware of. Lots of interactive and hands on fun for children. There is pottery making and you can also... More

Love our visit here, very informative and interesting. Demonstrations of the making of various kinds of pottery, decorating and you can even have a go at throwing a pot! We spent 3 hours there and the time flew by. Plenty of parking. There is also an exhibition of Thomas Crapper the man who developed the flushing toilet! Highly recommended place... More

Most interesting museum with varied sections depicting different aspects of the pottery making. An added interest was the display of toilets.

Went to Gladstone Pottery a while ago, found it very interesting, plenty to see and if you go on a 'special day' where folk dress up it makes it more fun.

The day was loved by my Year 3 and 4 class! They learnt about their local history in both a fun and interactive way! The workshop leaders were very knowledgeable and spoke to the children at their level! We are returning back this March as part of our work around the Industrial Revolution!

Great time spent exploring the Gladstone Pottery Museum. Visited with a friend. Lots of cobbles to walk over and steps so not ideal for people with mobility problems. Unfortunately the flower maker was not available the day we visited, however we were given two demonstrations whilst we were there. We had the chance to throw a pot too. Interactive displays,... Thank you for your kind words, it was great to hear that you enjoyed the museum, demonstrations and café. We hope your pot is drying out nicely! The cobbles can be difficult for visitors with mobility problems so we do have a wheelchair and mobility scooter available for anyone who would find them helpful. More
