Mozzies galore
Feb 2020 • Friends
We arrived & no one was there. We worked out why after only walking about 100 metres & got attacked by mosquitoes. Clearly not a place to go during the Queensland wet season. Such a shame because it looked like a beautiful quite spot for a walk.

An amazing hidden gem

We had a wonderful walk here quite by chance. Lovely level boardwalk, plenty of seats and viewing areas and really good information kiosks at the beginning of the walk.

A walk on the wild side
Oct 2019 • Solo
This walk is best done in winter unless you like tropical heat and mosquitoes, These wetlands are the lungs of the Sunshine Coast and our fragile ecosystems are dependant on the flora and fauna that’s endemic in this fantastic spot. The bird life is prolific and watch out for waterfowl and the snakes!

Peaceful walk
Sep 2019 • Couples
Great walk - very quiet except for all the birds!
Board walk is suitable for everyone - pram and wheelchair accessible. There is a slight slope at the start but the rest is flat. Great bird hide and places to look for crabs in the mud.
Could use some more informative signs on the different zones you walk through. Great signs about birds and crabs that you might see.

Just Fantastic
Jun 2019 • Family
I never knew this wetland existed until I saw an advertisement for the eco hunt running through the school holidays. We had a great time here exploring the wetland & looking for the different animals; we were here for hours. It’s so nice to take a step back & enjoy hidden gems like this. The gentleman who greeted us was just lovely & offered us some mosquito repellent which was great as we didn’t have any. They have a raised boardwalk so no need to worry about putting visit off if it has just rained.

Wonderful wetlands
May 2019
This is a fabulous place to immerse yourself in nature in the eco enviroment of the wetlands. The birdlfe is amazing, the pathways are well maintained and there is plenty of info before you start along with mozzie spray.

Amazing and Vital Wetlands
Jul 2018 • Friends
This is a must-see for all locals and visitors to the Sunshine Coast region. The importance of wetlands, economically, socially and educationally, cannot be emphasized too much.
This sanctuary encompasses 98 hectares of pristine forests, including rainforest, melaleuca, casuarina and mangrove. It houses an Information Centre and the Sunshine Coast Environmental Education Centre, and offers the visitor 1 kilometre of path and boardwalk to explore.
It is advisable to visit in the cooler months of May to October due to the rise of the mosquito population in Summer, but the boardwalk is open all year.
Volunteers are on duty most Sundays to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

Excellent facilities, hidden gem
Sep 2018 • Family
A great place for a walk, the wide, flat boardwalk meanders through eucalypt forests and then mangroves down to the Maroochy river. We walked at a relaxed pace and stopped at quite a few points along the way and we took about an hour. We visited in Sept on a day with a light breeze and although we used repellent, we didn’t see any mosquitos at all. We saw crabs, fish and various birds, there would probably be more to see earlier or later in the day, we were there at lunchtime (we may have found mosquitoes then too!)
It’s an interesting place, information on signs along the way and apparently you can get a leaflet for a self guided walk with more info. It’s easy to find and has good facilities, clean toilets, drinking fountain and gazebos and seats along the way.
