Ojo de Agua has sargassum seaweed problems like most of the Caribbean areas. But, do not let that deter you from enjoying the beach & the little fishing village of Puerto Morelos!
We enjoyed our week long stay at a condo about a half block...More
I stayed three days here, and I have to admit that I loved the color of the room, the style and the basic things, the view I had was not with an ocean view, but in the cabins of the beach the view is pleasant,...More
Excellent place to snorkel just off the beach near "Wetset Dive Center". Very relaxing & protected area from all the little boats so you don't have to worry about getting CREAMED by a boat propeller! Lots of fish & coral reefs. The "Ojo" is actually...More
As of the date of this review (mid July 2018) the sea grass problem in the Carribean is pretty bad. Massive amounts float in everyday. The locals work diligently to remove the sea grass but it is a loosing battle. As it rots, the smell...More
I am positively certain that this is a beautiful beach seasonally - but this summer is not the season. Huge amounts of sea grass have not made entering the water pleasant or attractive. The beach is however busy, and if you can get over walking...More
Great place to spend a day, Nice wide beach, good eats, Violetas massage close by, and great shore snorkeling. Can lose track of time while looking at the coal, fish, and underwater cenote. Use fins or swim while there is little current.

This is a great question. I stayed on a beach hotel, so we just had our room. What can you live Without? My wife had a water proof phone case... ( ya right ). So she puts her stuff in that , and takes it with her. it can take some water... I have an underwater camera, so I take pictures with that.
get and underwater case, a GOOD one, not a cheap one, and test it before you go, if it works at home, it should work there. and take your stuff with you.
I ALSO have a super long cord on my camera.. so its goes AROUND my neck.. AND I have floats on it.. Yes. boat key floats..so if it does come off.. it FLOATS!
OR maybe talk to a hotel. but really, a cell phone, and cash.. no one cares about your room key. I think they are very honest.. but Those are the things I would NOT leave...
Cash, is no big deal, that can be replaced. but I would HATE to loose my cell phone. Maybe just leave that at home... ( hotel room ).
There is no good answer here, I'm sorry.. Leave it safe in the room, and bring a waterproof case for the rest..and HOPE for the best!
