the last time I will visit
Aug 2020 • Couples

This was out fourth stay at the place. The three previous visits were very enjoyable and we even recommended it to some friends who also visited.

On our arrival on Saturday the 25th we noticed that there was a problem with the internet and mentioned it immediately.

To cut a long story short the internet problem lasted until the following Friday afternoon the 31st (six days). I called the office several times, I sent SMS messages, and on each occasion. I was told by the manager what they thought the problem was.  As I tried to explain on several occasions, I was not interested in knowing what the problem was, I just wanted someone to fix it.

On the last day I was curious to see how checkout would be managed. Let’s just say it was not textbook stuff.

Firstly, I received confirmation of how much was left to pay after the deposit, and I could not believe that I was being charged for the full amount. I challenged this and was told that I would receive wine as compensation. I had already purchased wine from 2 other vineyards in Lucca and so was not really interested in this option.  I insisted on receiving an important price reduction.

The conversation did not have a happy ending although I did receive a discount.

The moral to the story, If the manager had been genuine, apologised and offered be half the discount I would have accepted it.  In the end I asked for an apology and eventually I received one, a case of too little too late.

If internet is important to you, your husband, wife, partner, friend or children then I would encourage you to check that it works before booking. I have experienced problems accessing internet in other places in the past. but not for 6 days.

I am quite confident that a comment will be posted by the manager, which is fine, but it will not make up for them spoiling my holiday.

Lastly there were 2 other important problems in the apartment, which I chose not to share with them. I suggested that they spend 7 days staying in the apartment and they will figure it out for themselves, it’s really obvious.

Wine tasting
Jul 2019 • Friends
My husband and I and three friends visited this domain July 24.
There were 5 more visitors.
A young man explained us in English, how the owners worked and which grapes and so on.
Soon it was clear that he had no clue about winemaking and growing grapes. He only worked there two month. Then the cellar and actual wine tasting upstairs.
We tasted the 1st sparkling rose...which was corked...it never happened before.
He also didn't taste the wine before.
Then another white wine...simple bland without much taste.
Then 2 more reds...wooded and traditional.
Over all...we went for the "no sulphite' wines....no chance we could taste them.
The man regularly disappeared...we were just sitting there...
Then...at the end...we were asked to pay 15 Euro each person. Which we were not told when we made the reservation.
It is a real 'rip off' ......no way this would have happened in France.
We know many bio dynamic wine makers...Italy...shame on you.

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to read these comments. The person in charge is well-trained and sommelier. It can happen to have corked wines worldwide, not often fortunately in our winery, I can assure you. Unfortunately, we didn't taste it at the moment it was opened. We weren't asked to give you a taste of the no sulphite wines, we could do that without any problem. The person in charge left you for some minutes cause in that moment he was alone in the winery and had another customer in the office at the same time, unfortunate, but I'm sure you can understand, as he had explained you. Best regards, Mina

Excellent wine, interesting vineyard
Oct 2018 • Couples
While staying in Lucca we wanted to do some local wine-tasting in the countryside and was driven there (you need a car or transportation) by a local. Amazing. We are from California so we have toured many a winery and even belong to some. But we had never encountered such dedication to organic, bio dynamic viticulture. And the wine was delicious, the guide informative and friendly, and the prices excellent! Unfortunately we couldn't bring wine home with us so could only buy enough to drink while in Italy.

More learning than tasting
Oct 2018
A friend thought I might like this winery. I knew nothing about it. It’s close to Lucca but you need a car. Finding the office I was told by less than friendly woman tour started in 15 minutes and I should wait outside ?! Her tone and attitude was off putting so I asked no further. Mistake! A group of four tourists showed up saying they had come for the tour but knew nothing about it. Nice young man guided us telling about the winery, that it was more than organic, how and why. We saw only some of vineyard before going back to see a small cellar room. Then upstairs to a room with table set for the tasting. There were no choices or options, no generous pours or retaste. His tasting notes were textbook rather than inviting and uninspiring. Bread and olives were the offered nibbles rather than a more delectable array of local goodies as I read other wineries offer. I especially took note of this as eventually I learned there was a fee to be paid. A 20 minute chat about their way of growing grapes, see a few barrels, taste 4 of their wines. Simple, educational, unfulfilling tasting experience. If I had to choose one of the 4 I’d say the rose. The fee was 15 euro. Not horrible but under better circumstances less of a sting. .

Responsible Producer of Great Wines.
Oct 2018 • Business
One of the smaller wine production estates, with a Great hart for our enviroment in making Organic, Bio Dynamic wines with great potential.
The Rosé, made in small quantities is of outstanding quality, and remarkably, as Italy is not well known for Rosé wines.
Buy one or more bottles if you can, as these wines will not show up in supermarkt chains, like the wines from fellow mass producers in the Chianti region.
O, one thing more, here and not like the big boys, no irrigation of Vine, great contribution to the real taste.

BELLISSIMO.

Vineyard tour and wine tasting
Aug 2018 • Family
We visited Fattoria Sardi organic and biodynamic vineyard during our holiday in Lucca area and could not recommend this more! All staff were super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, with excellent English as well. We learned a lot about the organic and biodynamic methods, walked around vineyard, cellar etc and got to taste four beautiful wines as part of the tour. They also catered for our children (5 and 10), were very friendly and gave them lovely juice while we enjoyed our wines. An absolute gem! Highly recommended.

We had an enjoyable (but rainy) visit of this winery and a tasting. Very interesting how this vineyard is environmentally friendly.

Great wine and guide was excellent
Sep 2017 • Couples
We are on honeymoon and wanted to visit a vineyard. We had a tour and have been to other vineyards before but thought our guide was excellent. We tried four different types of wine and one was so great that we bought a bottle to have back at our villa.

Highly recommend a visit
