Of the temples I visited in Cambodia, Beng Mealea was by far my favorite. It was one of the least crowded and it wasn't rebuilt like many of the others. Bring adequate footwear because you will be doing some climbing over stones. There's a wooden walkway through parts of the temples but some of the park employees will take you... More

Really amazed from khmer culture and all the temple structures.. But this one is very loved one because its not so touristic and has a great setting.. Prepare for walking and become part of this lost civilization.. Respect..

Worth the trip out from Angkor to see how all the temples looked when they were first rediscovered. Amazing how Mother Nature recaptures old buildings if left untouched for centuries. This temple shows how much work has been done in the restoration of the other Khmer temples. Cambodia should leave this untouched as a unique example of jungle v man.

One of my top 4 fab temples after 3 days if touring. It is a bit further out, 40km from angkor but we'll worth it. There are less tourist crowds, the temple is picturesque, covering a large area and quite spectacular. We wondered around at our leisure without a guide, it was relaxing and the vibe here was charming and... More

Though the Beng Mealea Temple is rather far off from Siem Reap, about 40 kms & still unrestored in a ruinous state, i took the full day Siem Reap Shuttle Tour combined with another interesting site further away costing me $ 40 + $ 5 for the Temple entry pass.I found it a very good, worthwhile & interesting trip. The Temple... More

We wondered through this temple on our second day of visiting temples. This one was by far the coolest and one I will never forget. We started wondering through and the ruble make it feel so much more real and different. We reached the top of the temple and a staff member encouraged us to view the "inside of the... More

Great place to visit, isolated from the rest of the temples. Still a bit intact. Great place to check. It is a bit far from Siem Reap, though.

I want to preface this with the fact that we LOVED Beng Mealea. However. Based on reading things online and in our Lonely Planet Guide, we were under the impression that this temple was secluded in the jungle with very few people around, which was right up the alley of two adventurous spirits that were tired of sharing the Angkor... I visited here with a guide on my way back from the Koh Ker group of temples. We entered from a different gate to where the tour buses enter (thank god!). I was offered the opportunity to clamber through the temple or take the easy path. I chose the clambering. My guide showed me a safe path up, over and... More
