I live near the castle of Évora Monte which I can see from my house. It makes a very beautiful view. Visiting the castle is a terrific adventure: you can see around the the beautiful landscape of the Alentejo with the small mountains and the typical trees : the cork trees called in portuguese sobreiros. It is possible to go... More

One of the highest small villages in Alentejo, in the part of the Castle, where you can really jump and walk in the majestic Walls and appreciate the 360º view. Great place to take landscape pictures. No need to visit the castle itself - there's nothing there worth visiting; but the place is something unique, as its people. This is... More

We spotted the castle from the road and were excited to see what was inside. We waited 20 min for lunch hour to end and paid the two euro each plus one euro for the brochure and were very disappointed. The castle is impressive from the outside and the views are breath taking but once inside the lack of information... More

A nice small village and an important site for the history of Portugal, whre one is able to follow, through the rooms in the small castle, the stpes of Pedro Iv and Miguel at an important meeting that put an end to a civil war. Nice architecture, wonderful view of the surroundings, fine small village around the castle.

Legacy from the Braganç dinasty, this is a beautifully preserved castle. The columns and ceilings follow the Manuelino style with a twist. It is a great venue for photography lovers, especially from the top where miles and miles can be seen 360 degrees around. If you want to have lunch, you should leave Evoramonte, turn back to Vimieiro and have... More

We walked here from the village below, walking up the roadway. Very steep but worth the walk. Pretty village with an artisan shop half way down the street. Lovely

A beautiful castle in the top of a hill with amazing views. The main building is unique. Different from all the others in Portugal. Worth to visit if you are somewhere between Estremoz and Evora.

This castle you can spot already from a great distance castelo de Evoramonte, it is from the medieval age and about 400 meters above sea level. On the outside it is also very special, this is the first castle we have seen in this form and construction. Worth wile to see from the outside, once on the inside the visit... More

Experience to enter a castle, where the small houses are inside, only one entrance, one way. A restaurant in the main road as a fantastic view of the Alentejo plains.

Castle is open 01 June to 30 Sept @14.00 hrs but not on Monday when we arrived. The area around the castle is overgrown with weeds and looks neglected, however the views are spectacular
