Pornanino, Radda in Chianti: Address, Phone Number, Pornanino Reviews: 5/5

About
- Seminars and tours are upon request - This unique talk on bio and chemical free gourmet extra virgin olive oil, given by Matteo, expert as well as one of Chianti's premier olive growers, is a chance to learn how the best oil is made and why it requires careful handling at each step of its production. The talk is given at the Lombardi Estate tasting room, surrounded by his 4,000 olive trees. This is also where the stone frantoio (olive press of which this is one of only 14 presses in Tuscany) is located, so you will be able to see the stone grinding wheels and press that delivers the oil from the olives.

MUST DO tour while in Tuscany
Sep 2021 • Couples
Matteo and Francesca do this tour with full knowledge to provide a thorough understanding of how olive oil is produced, what it means to buy “good olive oil” and how the market works worldwide. A MUST DO tour while traveling through or staying in Tuscany which we fully recommend!

Wonderful Way to Spend a Few Hours!

Loved learning all of the details about olive oil! Realizing that most of what I buy at home isn't worth buying. I can wait until my oil olive arrives after this year's harvest. There were 16 adults in our group, and we all love the experience. The lunch was absolutely delicious. I would recommend a vist if you are in the area!

Great experience

We really liked Matteo’s ‘crash course’ in olive oil. Matteo is incredibly passionate and explained the entire production process of olive oil as well as the differences between real olive oil and ‘supermarket’ olive oil. After the tour which lasted about an hour we tasted the olive oil (and more) which was lovely.

The best olive oil, highly recommended
Aug 2020
We visited Pornanino olive oil mill in our last day in Toscana, unfortunatelly Matteo was busy due to an error of electrical system in the farm, but his wife Francesca gave us more than enough overview about olive trees (they have 4000 trees), olive harvesting (they are doing it by hands) and olive oil production in their own mill. She knew the answer to every question and even more. Also Matteo found some time to say us hello. Thank you very much, that you showed us your olive oil production and I can say after tasting (we just drank it and applied it to the skin) I have never ever tasted so good olive oil. Of course we bought some bottles, but as they are able to ship it, I'm sure we will order it again.

We called Matteo to buy some olive oil after having read about his mill the day before. Matteo was able to receive us at very short notice and to our surprise, also gave us a very passionate and informative tour regarding the small-scale, traditional production of olive oil at Pornanino, also highlighting the differences with “the industry”. Very highly recommended for anyone interested in high quality, traditionally produced olive oil and the olive oil industry in general.

Green Gold in the "Black Rooster" Region!
Oct 2019
Constant Companion and I visited Azienda Agricola Pornanino on our culinary tour of Tuscany. Pornanino is unique in that they cultivate their own olives on 36 hectares, hand harvest them by hand to guarantee ripeness, and cold press them the same day in their own mill which assures freshness! This provides the customer with a product that is extraordinary and unlike the adulterated garbage on the market today!
The drive into the farm is spectacular, if a bid twisting, but once we arrived we were greeted by Matteo, the son in law of Franca and Lia Lombardy who started this business. Matteo gave us a thorough description of their product and more importantly a list of the problems associated with "fake" olive oil today! Once finished, his wife Francesca, treated us to a tasting of this "Green Gold" on freshly toasted Tuscan bread.
They have some gifts for sale here and more importantly you can order their EVO online for shipping to the States. There also are some cottages for rent, which might provide be a nice respite.

Visiting this unique farm with friends from Livorno we hadn’t seen in 27 years was truly a wonderful experience. Our friends drove and oh what breathtaking views we had through this part of Tuscany. Many of the roads are unpaved, very curvy and yet this is part of the rustic charm. Matteo is the 2nd generation in the family business and we certainly hope not the last! He explains what types of olives are used and why, when and how the olives are harvested, the whole production process, why they aren’t part of the organic program and most interesting to me was what makes their small farm so unique and so important to support. We purchased their home made olive oil soap and are anticipating the mid December arrival of our pre-ordered oils. To taste the difference in the oil is proof that this family are masters of their craft and we will be repeat customers as are so many others.

Excellent lecture, much learned. Excellent Olive Oil, now we know how and why.
Sep 2019
A vacation lecture may not have an appealing ring....however, the drive down a long private (dirt) road thru the beautiful Tuscan countryide set the stage and Matteo's relaxed yet efficiant approach to sharing his Olive Oil expertice will change our approach to a product we use often, take for granted and have never fully understood. And we were able to purchase several beautiful oils to use in the year ahead.

We went as a couple, finding the place on our own after researching online. Know that you will be off paved roads to get there, but when you do, the property is lovely and the olive oil seminar very interesting. Matteo is passionate about his craft. We ordered several bottles to ship home to the US.
