Fedor was so welcoming to our group of 5 lads. We had paid roughly £20 each and were expecting to try maybe 2/3 wines. We were shocked to find out that this was a private tour/tasting session in which we tried maybe 8 or 10 wines and were treated to a mini tasting menu of some of the local cuisine. We had booked this expecting to fill an afternoon but it was such a laugh and ended up being our best excursion of the trip. Leant so much from Fedor and ended up buying 6 bottles. Don't miss this if you're in or around Bratislava!

Wow what a fantastic experience this is!
We got a bus from Bratislava and we’re so impressed witu this- one of our favourite things we did.
We got a massive lunch (which we didn’t know we were getting so had already eaten), then around 12 wines each and loved the conversation with Fedor :)
Must do when visiting!

We had the pleasure of visiting Slovakia and before leaving Canada I was looking for a winery experience for my lovely wife. After reading reviews about Fedor Malik and sons I emailed Malik Jr. and make an appointment. From Bratislava it was an easy bus trip from the main station and the bus stops literally in front of their new tasting room in the town of Modra. We had some time before so spent a few hours wandering the town and exploring its great history, from old churches to very old town walls.
The tasting itself was the epitome of relaxed and casual. Malik Jr. arrived looking very much the dedicated owner with dirt on his boots and work clothes on. Perfect!!
I am not the wine person between my wife and I but the entire time was a blast.
There was no shortage of varieties to sample. His young sons were dispatched to collect some delightful bread, cheese, and meats to accompany everything.
He showed us his new building in its working state with renovations still ongoing.
We tried some delicious sparkling wine opened with no sword but a small axe. Truly a working man's operation. The big boss and founder Malik Sr. dropped by and he was a delight to meet. We brought some chocolate treats all the way from Canada's west coast in hopes we could meet the "professor" and we were not disappointed.
An easy and cheap bus ride from Bratislava is recommended so all can partake in the very healthy pours from each bottle.
An absolute must to visit when travel becomes easier hopefully soon.
We actually visited in August of 2019 but this date wasn't available to be listed on the review.

If you are over for a holiday in Bratislava, this is a must! We pre-booked it a few days before and wasn't sure what to expect. It is situated in Modra, a short train then bus journey outside Bratislava.
On the day we met the son, who was an incredibly friendly, welcoming and lovely gentleman. He made us at home, sampling the families home made wines. We fully explained each one in detail and the history behind the business.
Half way through he showed us the cellar and process which was really interesting! A very personal visit and went away with two of the finest bottles we both enjoyed the most.
This was one of the highlights of our trip in Bratislava and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.
The family has something very special here and we absolutely loved it.

Note: The train is on a direct route to Pezinok but we couldn't figure out the bus directly to Modra as it didn't show up. So a taxi it was which cost around $9. On the way home we got a bus to Pezinok then a train home.. Rather tipsy! :-)

Jakub, Fedor and Maliks son was absolutely brilliant as a guide. He was very passionate and informative about wine and we learnt a lot. We tried many different wines and learnt about the process of each of them. We saw the new premises and the original house. We met Fedor himself. It was one of the best days of my entire holiday. I would highly recommend this tour if visiting Bratislava!

I organised the wine tasting via email a couple of days in advance. I caught the bus from the main bus station in Bratislava. You can purchase tickets on the bus and it takes around an hour. Very easy getting to Modra and back for a lovely day trip. The Malik family are lovely and ensure you have a wonderful experience tasting wine in their garden. Mr Malik Senior prepared some cheese, bread and fresh tomatoes from the garden and his son Jakub lead the wine tasting. All of the wines were delicious, I had 6 white wines and one red. It was a wonderful relaxed afternoon learning about the process and history of their business. Highly recommend visiting to enjoy wonderful Slovak wines in a small family business.

We have just come back from a fabulous intimate wine tasting experience at Fedor Malik & SYN in Modra. We tasted a variety of wines and purchased a few! Our guide was very informative and the family all very welcoming. We loved our special food treats as well! Would highly recommend....

We took a taxi from Bratislava but the bus is straightforward from the bus station, it stops around the corner from the venue and takes about 45 minutes.

We came across Fedor Malik’s wine in a local restaurant, it was so good we decided to visit the winery. I arranged the wine tasting directly with the owners by email, which was easy.
The wine tasting took place in the family house back garden. It was lead by Jakub, Mr. Malik’s son, who told us all about the winery and explained everything about wine making. We sampled 10 wines accompanied by some cheeses, salamis, bread and fruit. We had white wines, sparkling wine made with the traditional champagnoise method, and surprisingly enough also red wines. We also went to the small cellars where they produces all their wine. Mr. Malik joined us for a chat as well.
It was a nice relaxed experience. We had a wonderful time in the garden under the fruit trees. Ended up buying a few bottles of wine to take home.
Highly recommend to anybody who would like to try Slovak wines from a small family-run business.

We were a group of 9 danish/faroese men on a 4-day stay in Bratislava. On the second day we visited Fedor Malik and his four sons winery in Modra. We were warmly welcomed by the youngest son - Jacob. He gave us the very personal story of the winery, the history of Modra and their honest ambition of producing good wines.
We tasted 8 different wines: A sparkling wine called Modragne, 2 red wines and 5 white wines. The wines were accompanied with treats like local cheese, bread, olives, sausages, ham, chilis and cake.
Jacob showed us around in the many small cellars hidden around the house filled with wine in every step of the proces. The 3-hour tour started and ended in Fedor Maliks beautiful backgarden with kiwi-, chestnut- and almondthrees.
We also had the privilege to talk to Fedor Malik himself. He showed us some of the many books he has written about gastronomy and wine. On our ride back to Bratislava we felt euphoric not only because of the wine consumption but also due to having had an extraordinare experience with people who love the wine they produce.
-We can not recommend this experience highly enough.

The Malik winery is a family business split between the vineyards, an old town centre house they're renovating to turn into a wine shop with accommodation and Fedor Malik Senior's home, which is where we whiled away a delightful couple of hours around the garden table. The talented and multilingual Jacob, one of his four sons, took time out to set the world to rights with us while we tasted six bottles. I highly recommend the Modragne, e methode champagnoise rose at 13 euros a bottle. But then again any of the whites are worth having. Degustation is 15 Euros a head and between four of us we demolished a bottle of Modragne and made serious inroads into five other bottles. Nibbles supplied by Mrs Malik. Thanks also to Katarina in the Modra tourist office for taking us there.
