Beautiful historic place

Very nice to spend here some time and see and read how old this is, 1250 AD. Impressive to see how they build this and with the graveyard in front a place of serenity and rest.

The church looks nice on the inside and outside. I like all the paintings on the inside, it's not like any other church I have seen. Nice place to take a break when you're on the road.

The 13th Century Roldal Stave Church was the most interesting of the three stave churches we visited on a trip to Norway. To start with, it is still in use, so a living monument, rather than an historical artefact. The pained interior and miracle cross were interesting sidelights. And finally, the information sheets (in several languages) made it easier to... More

Obviously the church is very old and beautifly preserved, all around clean and nice ....like all Norway, especially on a sunny day. Problem was that the church was closed, and it s mostly like this.....be sure to check opening hours before you go.

This small church is well worth some of your time. Not so easy to see, but easy to access from the main road through Røldal. Drive past the camping sites. Information sheet in several languages avaliable. Entrance fee

While in Røldal, Seim camping, we decided to visit one of the remaining stave churches in Norway. No regrets what so ever. It was well restored. Beautiful on the inside and well kept on the outside. Always good to visit a church during one's holidays!

The church was closed so couldn't see inside, but it's nicely surrounded by the small cementery and the mountains so you definately can make a good picture. If you have time, route to Roldal to stop there for a moment.

40NOK entrance, in Roldal behind the Coop. One of the last 28 remaining staves churches in Norway and built around 1275 will great preservation. Worth the slight detour if you are already in the area and definitely see a stave church before leaving Norway!
