I have visited this castle a few times in the best. It is really wort to see.  Niedzica castle is a medieval stronghold from 14th century, situated in a very beautiful place - directly on the Czorsztyn Lake.

This castle, as opposed to the Czorsztyn castle, is definitely worth a visit. The castle, which the owners lived in until 1943, has rooms with original furniture. There are also photographs of the members of the last owners, the Salamon family. The view from the two terraces is beautiful. Also very interesting is the walk on the dam.

We had the oportunity to visit the castle with a guide. It was a good choice, because thanks to that we learned a lot of interesting things about the history of the castle, items inside and its owners.
The ticket includes castle + coach house, in our case also a guide. Butif you want to visit a granary too, you have to buy aditional ticket.

They limit number of visitors in the main castle so head to ticket box early to get tickets. We got tickets to old granary and old stable with carriages. We opted from boat tour across the lake to other castle ruins in Czorsztyn ( we drove there later).
DO not miss old granary building where they have exhibits with "goral" artifacts from nearby Spis gorals ( and you can find out more info from girl who are offering personalized info about their culture) Marta was our girl and she had lots of good info not just about Spis gorals but also what else to do in Pieniny - Thank you :)
Castle is very nice and has some great views across the lake but also good information provided by the guide. I wish there was a English audio option- maybe in the future :)

Just last week we have visited with our family from Australia (Sydney) this great castle. This castle is now a museum and it is opened everyday during summer. If you like castles, legends, fairy tales and medieval stories with no doubt you have to visit this amazing, beautiful and scary place in the south of Poland.

This is a small castle dating from 13th century. Since then it has grown as new owners have added to the Castle with walls, walkways, courtyards & these plans can be seen in the exhibition inside.

The cost of entry was 28 zl each including the tour that lasts approx 50 minutes. I am sure that we would have learnt more about this Castle had they managed to have an English speaking guide. We had to rely on a leaflet & our friends translation.

You will see dungeons, guard room, a chapel, private rooms including garments & personal belongings. However the majority of wooden furniture has been replaced with historical help from the last Countess Ilona Bethlen Salamonowa (the original wooden furniture was burnt by the Russians Red Army sometime in the 1940’s?)

There is also a coach house included in the entrance price.. we haven’t seen sleigh carriages before, so it was a treat!

There are wonderful views from the Parapets & windows in the rooms.

Worth a visit. Allow 2 hours max.

I took a minibus from Nowy Targ to the castle which took around 40 minutes. Sitting on top of a hill at 553m it overlooks the Lake with a beautiful setting all around. Built during the 13th century it was refurbished from ruins during the 20th century. After paying the entry ticket price of 12zl, I entered through the main gate and started exploring the interiors. The courtyard had an interesting arched structure made of wood and stone which reminded me of a church cloister and its own small church with a clock on its tower. After seeing the museum inside with several archaeological remains found under the castle grounds, I climbed to the highest point of the castle where a beautiful panorama of mountains and the lake was set before me.

Great castle to visit, fantastic views from the top terrace, we had a great guide who explained the history of the place. Overall highly recommended!

A very popular spot, thus worth coming in early. Paid parking available (13 PLN/stay if I am not mistaken).
