Danau Toba's stakeholder maybe just develop the main attraction without develop the facilities among them. Tourist didn't feel easiness to enjoy the lake without distraction from bad facilities. It just... Lake and hotels.

We chartered a boat to take us out to the island to see the Batak village. It was very laid back and the water was very still. Even got to drive the boat for awhile. Amazing what can happen when you ask. Very pleasant day on the water.

We spent more time on the Island than we had planned because we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the surrounding-even though it was very quiet because there were almost no tourists. Its the perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food with a couple of beers after travelling Sumatra. I'd come back for sure.....

A gem of Sumatra.. A very nice lake that is comparable to Sun moon lake in Taiwan.. Recommend to take boats to visit islands and understand local history.

Visited this underrated Lake in Feb 2016.. An hour cruise took us to the lake's center and I was amazed by the historical villages and their history - an outstanding jewel.. enjoyed shopping in their huge bazaar area and eaten lunch using my bare hands.. Rented a bike and strolled the Lake up to the hilltop and the view was... More

Great place to chill after the sweltering heat of Indonesia! Carolina Cottages you get dropped off on porch on ferry ride from Parapat. Lots of cheap accommodations to choose from in Tuk Tuk. Restaurants Tuk Tuk and Juanitas are great on main road behind Carolinas. Scooter ride on decent road with minimal traffic to far side island for scenery/ hot... More
