This is a very interesting place to visit if you are interested in history. It is basically 500 metres of tunnels and chambers which were dug out to serve as air raid shelters during the WWII bombardment of Malta by the German air force. When...More

Very long shelter, the tunnels go for a couple of hundred yards and held around 4000 people. However, Mellieha was not the target of Italian or German air raids.

The curator was very knowledgeable and interesting. The tunnels are a wonderful insight into how the islanders had to live during the war. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Malta.

A must visit and a tribute to the ingenuity and bravery of the Maltese people. A simple museum with information cards every 100m. Spend as long or as short as you want. Don't worry you can stand upright during the entire visit

Lovely little museum, well worth a visit if you want to know more about WWII and Malta. Only two euros per person for entry! The guy on the desk was amazing!
