A lovely place

A lovely small place in the sun, our absolute favourite in the southern Gran Canaria! Beautiful, warm sea, a small town feeling.

The dunes which stretch miles at the huge Maspalomas beach are one of the iconic sights in Gran Canaria & if you make the effort to trek across & up them you will see why. Nature is a wonder & this is one of her natural sculptures. Extremely windy when we were there, but that's the norm apparently (the wind... More

The longest, very sandy and pristine beach on the island. Part of the beach is occupied by nudists but that does'nt stop nearby get sun bathes people in bathing suits. Good place for walking along the waves. You need to be prepared for constant and sometimes strong wind. A local attraction is the tallest lighthouse in Spain. There are good... More

Part of the fun is also that you can choose between sunbathing in your latest bathing fashion bikini or - if inclinged to do so - go to the part where you don't need any clother at all - as god created you - and that's the best sunbathing Feeling you can get - and everyone there seems to enjoy... The dunes are absolutely beautiful to see. You can walk the well trodden path up to the dunes and if you have the energy walk up the dunes and down the other side - don't let that put you off it shouldn't be missed. Be warned though there is a nudist beach 100 yard further on from the dunes, this... More

Many people enter the dunes area from the Riu Palace Hotel or from Faro (and walk along next to the sea). The sand dunes are at one end unpolluted and beautiful though that does give way (from the right side of the Riu Palace) to the gay areas which have more shrubbery and sadly much more litter / detritus from... This beach has been awarded a Blue flag. The dunes stretch for miles. You could think you are in the Sahara Desert. There are sections of this expanse of sandy beach for everyone. You could either mix with other families , or if you want to have peace and quiet then you can loose yourself between the sand dunes. There... More

The dunes are an amazing sight and are really quite big. Very deceptive from a distance. We walked to the information point nearest to Playa del Ingles and looked across the dunes but we did not try to walk on them as they looked more of a challenge than we were prepared for. There are camel trips across the dunes... More
