The Traunsee is not the ideal lake for people loving warm water and sandy beaches. It is the perfect place for people who love clean fresh greenish-clear water and a panorama on the mountain Traunstein to die for. Love it !

A wonderful lake with opportunities to do some serious hiking, Nordic walking, boating, mountain biking, and if you are quite experienced, rock climbing or mountaineering. On the water the lake can be seen from many sides so a boat trip is well worth it.

This is one of the prettiest places in slazburg area. A must visit. One can just chill by the lake, swim in it, walk around it or just find a good spot and enjoy the views.

It's a fantastic place to visit. Walking next to the lake, surrounded by the mountains... For the photographers also a good environment!

On a sunny day there's no better place in the world but aboard one of the Traunsee lake boats. Whether you choose a 2-hour tour of the lake's northern end at Gmunden or buy the more expensive pass to explore the lake's entire 25 miles...More

Gmunden is quite a cosy town, with the Traunsee as turquoise eye, an intersection of above and below, the might of depths and greatness of the skies... Bird watching, bathing, starting point for Traunstein climbing... It is popular destination. You can also visit Cumberland Wildpark...More

We were lucky enough to know someone with a boat. However there are several boats available to tour the lake. The views are great. On a quiet day it is amazing to see the mountains in their beauty.

I'm born at this lake but moved away around 20 years ago. I still love to visit my hometown with the lake. Very clean water, a little bit cold but this is something you get used to it. Also the cruises offered on the lake...More

A beautiful lake resort in Upper Austria. The lake and the surrounding mountains leave you breathless and exhilarated, a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of Vienna. The place is so quiet and laid back and the water is crystal clear. Lots of restaurants...More
