Excellent temple and well maintained. You can reach the temple at the hill top by foot, rope-way or winch. The winch can be pre-booked at the palani temple website and so can darshan / archana tickets be pre-booked. Best time to visit the temple is during school exam or March when the summer is not started and crowd is less.... More

This is a temple that has caught the imagination of many devotees. The myths surrounding the history are interesting. The significance of Sage Agastya and the demon devotee of Lord Muruka, Edumbar, are yet to really catch serious attention of the pilgrims. We went Palani temple with family and younng children. Every thing including Darshan done in a swift and smooth way. Lord murugan supported us on every step. Unbelievable crowd. The Lord Palani andavar is beautiful and blesses one and all. The admin has made very good arrangements... Various queues... It's a beautiful temple, located on a hill and is frequented by devotees. You may chose various ways to approach the temple - by climbing up the stairs (haven't done in either of my visits) or by winch or rope-car (tried both, quite convenient). Good temple with lot of annoying road side sellers.Free parking,shoe keeping available in all 3 areas(near steps,train,ropeway).Swarna theru is at 7pm.Paid entry at this time is good for easy darsan.Choose hotels near rope way,if elder ones are with you.Hotel nalpakam is good for veg food.
