When I heard Roman sandstone mines, I had a whole different image in my mind about what I'd experience than what this cave offered. I was amazed by all the art that covered the walls of these caves!

Admittedly only went here as thought it would stop the kids moaning for half an hour as we wondered this lovely town. Man made caves? Given I've seen some amazing natural caves in my travels I wasn't expecting much.. But.. You got to respect the...More

Only issue was no english translation for what is one of the main tourist attractions in the town. In today's world it would MOT be difficult to have an app or walkman type machine.

We took the walking tour of 45 minutes (the train tour is half an hour and very sedentary). The guide was clear and indormative. We also liked the light show.

We took the 'train' trip rather than the walking tour and this trip underground through the worked out passages was really interesting. You get to see the art on the walls (which ranged in ability from the average to the really skillful) and the carvings....More

Visited the Cave during a free day whilst on tour. We were taken through the cave on a “train” which moved slowly. A commentary was given in Dutch, but before entering were given a paper in English and recommended we read it before entering. The...More
