Wow not to be missed. Best to go on the train to be able to see everything? And take time at the end to see the amazing show. Remember to take warm clothes.

As we past by Valkenburg we walked around and came to the Gemeente grot. There is and entrance fee. It was a bit discounted and paid 5 € per person. The Christmas market is a bit dull and not really christmas. It’s different as it’s...More

While visiting Maastricht we decided to do a deviation to the near city of Valkenburg (European city of Christmas 2018). Convinced by the many good reviews we decided to visit the largest and most visited underground Christmas market in Europe. We never did a worst...More

The cave experience is nice and the market stalls have good pricing but 90% of the stalls do not take any card but Meistro so you can look but not buy. However, if you are desperate just buy drinks at the restaurant and pay 5€...More

I've been here a couple times now and I always enjoy taking a tour here, the tour guides are always helpful they'll explain the origins of the "cave", and all its parts, you'll take a tour past some drawing and an atomic bunker.

Very nice limestone cave to visit. You can visit on foot or by train. After the visit You can admire a light and music show in the cave on Your own time.

We were taken deep into the caves below Valkenburg on a little train. It was a surreal experience: the tunnels were barely large enough for the train, there was local artwork throughout the tunnels - sculptures and charcoal drawing, we entered the nuclear bunker built...More

When I heard Roman sandstone mines, I had a whole different image in my mind about what I'd experience than what this cave offered. I was amazed by all the art that covered the walls of these caves!

Admittedly only went here as thought it would stop the kids moaning for half an hour as we wondered this lovely town. Man made caves? Given I've seen some amazing natural caves in my travels I wasn't expecting much.. But.. You got to respect the...More
